Discussion in 'BG2: Throne of Bhaal (Classic)' started by DeBhaal Stasion, Oct 17, 2001.

  1. [IMG] i descided to be adventurous and solo through SoA(even though i havent even gone through with a party!) with a fighter/cleric no less! i was wondering if anyone has yet to do that and if so can you give me ideas on how to make it through some of the fights...namely the one in the inn right after getting out of Ireniceus'-sp?- dungeon b/c they wiped the floor with level 8/8 DeBhaal...
i appreciate the help if you can give it..and if not..thanks for the time

There are a number of ways. You cna use the fake talk strategy, or you can summon animals to distract them.

  3. [IMG] Fake talk strategy? i dont beleive i have heard of it...tho i might have just not by that name..maybe you could describe it a bit...but anyway..thanks for the info.

That is a pretty tough fight to take on even with a full party right out of the dungeon.

"Fake Talk" is a cheat method, so I don't recommend it. But if you want to, you can find it in the walk throughs hosted here.

The usual tactic for soloists to deal with the band it to try to separate them. Run up, get one to chase you down the stairs and then pound on him one on one. As a cleric, you can try to get off some Command or Hold Person spells, those can really help. The dwarf is the most dangerous, if you can kill him the rest should go down fairly smoothly. Good luck!

[IMG] I would say go through the game once with a party first. It will be better for you if you know how to control the game. I dont see the coolness in soloing i like it better with lots of part interaction, i would say at least take a romance NPC with you. Jut my opinion that is.

BTW: I HATE all signature not just your thoughts. :almostmad: Please people. There is a reason why Tal disabled them, dont just write them yourselves. Thank You.

  6. The reason im going through SoA & ToB solo is b/c I have gone through some of both with a party, and im just seeing if i can do it. I have pretty much player controls down pat..and maybe this will help me finesse them abit ::shrugs:: well anyway..gotta go now...check back later..thanks for the info.

--oh and it would be nice to be able to say i soloed through it with a f/c instead of a thief...just thought id add that thought--

The key strategy in any solo that I have played or read is the hit and run tactic. As the song goes, you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. Sneak up, expose what you want to expose, cast a spell and run... repeat. An F/C should be able to summon enough friends or use enough wands that he won't have to run too far though - the summoned allies should eventually be enough to delay opponents long enough for the PC to cast the big spells... Just takes patience and probably a few reloads.

To paraphrase my bookie, save early save often (his quote - bet early, bet often).

I once tried this with a plain mage: arrive-talk with mecnar-cast protection from normal weapons, shield, fireshield, etc.-skull trap-mm on mage-skull trap-lead 1 guy out-pepper him with spells-repeat
