Hi everyone.I'm new to forum.I'm sorry i can make some mistakes ,my English isn't very good.

I soloed BG1tutu with a Half-Orc F/T and after finishing the game I started another solo with a wild mage.Half-orc F/t was very easy.Wild mage is a little harder but much more fun.My sex changed two times,i've summoned a demon when i was trying to kill a mage at Cloakwood Mines, and lots of other strange things happened. Now I'm in Baldur's Gate and i have some questions:

1-Which items would be useful for a wild mage?(especially for defeating Sarevok)
2-Can Sarevok be stunned with Wand of Paralyzation?
3-Does anyone have a strategy for Ducal Palace for a solo mage?

    1. Standard mage stuff. Robe of the [alignment] Archmagi, Amulet of Metaspell Influence, Ring of Wizardry, and absolutely any and all Wands of Monster Summoning you can find. You'll need a LOT of fodder to get the big guy.

    2. I doubt it. WoP is pretty crappy, and Sarevok has great saves.

    3. Find a way to make at least one of the people you're trying to protect invisible and immobilized (I suggest Invis. on both & a Web or two). That gives you all the time in the world to kill off those damn dopplegangers.

Thank you.I had forgotten that Metaspell amulet.I was planning only to take book of int+1 from the mage's tower(casting invisibility to avoid ghasts). Then i will have to kill him to take his amulet.
Thanks for inv.+web trick too.I haven't thought web could be used for defensive purposes. :)

Wand of paralysation is actually quite potent, with a save penalty of -4. Add a Malison and he may very well FAIL.

That is, he may be already immune to hold/paralysation as most bosses are.

Yeah, he's most likely immune. Add to that the fact that the Wand of Paralyzation was nerfed to *never* work by either TotSC or BG2, and it'd be worthless in a Tutu game.

Would the sex change from a wild surge interrupt/stop a npc romance in bg2?

No, I don't think so. The initial matching is done at the first meeting, and I don't think any changes after that would affect it.

The sex as far as romances are concerned is set at the very beginning of the game. Somewhere in that first black screen before Jon starts experimenting on you I'm thinking because even if you get rid of a male character and replace it with a female after that point it will still set the game as if you were playing a male char.

^That opens opportunities for lesbian romances with Aerie, Jaheria, and Viccy (cool and interesting idea!), and a gay relationship with Anomen (ugh not the best idea) even in a pure and unmodded game.

That is, if you can live with every body calling your girl as 'sir', or the reverse. :shake:

About the wand of paralysation, I never put my hands on BG1 or ToTSC, so I can not comment, but it works wonders in my ToB and mod enhanced game. Add a greater Malison, and the victim must make a save vs wands at -8 penalty. Unless the critter is immune to it, it is most likely to fail the saving throw and will be practice dummy.

I killed the damn doppelgangers. But invis+web strategy didn't work. My summons was held too and i couldn't kill them myself. I think i'm too stupid to be a mage. Then i casted 3xMonster sum. ii . 6 ogres and 3 hopgoblins and myself casting magic mis. and flame arrow killed them all.

I'm now in front of Sarevok's temple. Actually i've entered once and tried it but i failed. I will try it again.

And sex changes are very funny.I change my portrait and soundset too. :D

Edit:I finally finished the game with only 1 hp. Thank you for ideas. Monster Summon wand rules. :thumb: I'm at Irenicus' dungeon now.

Silverstar yes it does. That was the first way to get one actually. Push your single player game over to a multiplayer and switch your main character out to one of the opposite sex and put it back.

I'm in Irenicus' Dungeon now. I had a wild surge that casted globe of invul. on me and i triggered most traps with it and mirror image. Only one trap hurt me.Another surge turned me to stone. Wild mage is the most exciting class i think.

I have a question about Windspear Hills.Should i go there? I don't think that i will need much exp. to hit the cap and there aren't good items for a mage. In fact there was only a fire res. ring IIRC that could be used by a mage. Other items are armors, long swords, helmets, etc. What do you think?

[IMG] I've done circus, slavers at coronet, Trademeet, some of the temple district quests and planar sphere. After freeing Hendak i bought Fiend (8th level version) spell from Bernard. I didn't have access to even 6th level spells but was able to summon a demon with NRD. :D

But i have a problem. I cast prot. from evil on myself and the demon attacks me. I thought it shouldn't attack me but it did. Is that normal?

You can not talk about the normal rules of spellcraft when you are a wild mage. :shake:

I've had rather bad luck on that score myself. The couple times I've summoned a demon it specifically attacked the character with PfE; even when I tried to distract it with someone without PfE, it just ignored them. So I gave up on using demons quite a while ago (not really my style anyway). And this wasn't a Wild Mage, it was Imoen.

I tried again and summoned demons seem to work fine for me now. I think i don't remember exactly which demon was causing trouble. I know that some quest related demons don't care for PfE. So it was probably one of the demons in the Planar Sphere. Or it may be a demon that came with a wild surge.

Anyway, it isn't a great problem. I cast it away from me and run away. It is a great tank against mages and liches. They spend their spells on the demon which has good MR.

I have a much greater problem now. I have finished Unseeing Eye, killed both liches but can't kill Kangaxx. I can cast up to 8th level spells. I hit him for 2 damage (4 on criticals) with Staff of Rynn. I just have 1 attack and it regenerates so quickly that prot. from magic scrolls duration runs out when he is just "barely injured". Damn ring!

    Does anyone have an advice?
