[IMG] Why is it that nobody answered my genie question?? I shall ask again: what is the differnce between a Dijinee and an Efreeti...

If nobody answers Parvini this time he make take vengence (cry) and assume that they are infact the same thing.

I have no facts.. but I'd think the difference is similiar than with ogre berserker and normal ogre.. or lesser elemental and normal.. the other is just bit stronger I think.

    [IMG] No, no!

The genie comes from the elemental plane of air, unlike the efreet, that is from the elemental plane of fire.

    That is the difference.

[IMG] This is secret information, and not to be shared with a lowly goblin..... :)

Honestly, according to my lore, djinie's comes from the air elemental plane, and is considered on the side of good. Efreeties are from the plane of fire, and on the side of evil.

    Hope it helps.....

Aaaaaaargh, Tin-Man, you beat me! :(

Parvini; Don't take it so personally! I've asked questions that I thought were interesting or important

    Dijinee vs. Efreeti.

Both are powerful entities from other planes. Dijinee's (or is it Dijinii for plural???) come from the plane of AIR, while Efreeti come from the plane of FIRE.

Both have the ability to grant wishes.

Dijinii are Chaotic Good. When granting wishes, they basically won't lie or screw you, but you still have to be careful. (See the Dijinii in Aladdin)

Efreeti are Chaotic Evil. When grant wishes, they will try to screw you, even lying. (See the Devil in the way lame movie Bedazzled)

This is why the Dijinee in BG2 is a reliable ally. He is not out to harm the PC, but he will drive a hard bargain to further his own and the PC's goals.

I hope this long awaited answer is helpful.

BTW - If you want to see a real lame response to a question, look for my post about a month ago asking if there were any Pocket PC RPG games. The response was under-whelming!!!!

NOW YOU SHOULD FEEL REAL GOOD! Three Simultaneous posts to answer your question! That is rare!

[IMG] Thanks all... this does not explain however why Dijinees have such rubbish spells compared with thier evil counterparts.

Btw I did not take this personally my tone was one of a spoiled child and for that I heartily apologise

Also, do not mock me kobold for you too were a Goblin once.

Evil is always less powerful than good, by itself. Good's strength is in its mentality and the combined strength of the group.
(although I pilfered that from the Belgariad, or Mallorean (David Eddings), it is certainly true in most fantasy literature)
and in BGII-Irenicus vs Main Character alone
Irenicus would likely win, but with your party...

[IMG] Yes, I too was a lowly goblin, but now I have evolved to something better and has risen to the glory of my deeds to come. :D

(I hate stupid spelling errors.....) ;)
