I finally got around to playing this game, and some things don't seem to be right.

Don't humans get an extra skill point at each level? My barbarian, with Int 7, gets 2 skill points at level 2; it should be 4 + int modifier, (which is -2) + race modifer (1, for humans)

also, my wizard with int 17 gets 5 skill points per level. (should be 2 + 3 + 1 = 6). I wonder if this a bug in my game.

You get a minimum of 1 skill point regardless of your Int score.
So even if a charecter has an Int score ranging from 3 to 11, it still gets 1 skill point per level.
Add to that the extra 1 skill point per level racial bonus for Humans.
Which is why your Int7 Human Barb gets 2 skill points per level.
At the first level, ie at charecter creation, any charecter will get 4x the number of skill points per level. Thereafter it goes according to the above formula.

IIRC rogues, bards and wizards get get extra skill points per level. I'll have to check in my game to get the exact formulae for each.
How did you come up with your formula of 2+3+1=6 ?

Since IWD2 don't have many of the 3:e skills you get only one skillpoint/level from your class (rogue gets the double), and 4 times as much the first lvl.

Gah! I see, you get the human race bonus, but only 1 point per level to start with. I was assuming the same rules as in NWN (which is 3e, I think) hold: 2 points per level to start with for most of the clasesses, barbarian gets 4. Thanks!

Uhm from what i recalled at looking at the files, you get mostly "half" the skillpoints you should have gotten from the D&D ruleset.

So example Fighter, cleric and wizard should get 2 skillpoints per level, halved down to 1 in iwd2.

ranger and bard should get 4, wich got shaved down to 2.

and rouge should get 8 from class alone, wich halves to 4.

Even Int modifier is limited, i only remember that int16 is the highest skillpoint bonus you get, +2 skills if i recal correctly.

And even the human bonus is halved, you should get +1 skillpoints per level, and 1*4 at first level, this start bonus is limited to 2 skillpoints, instead of the 4 you should have.

    :)

All becose they have so few skils in the game, that using the ful rules a rouge human with good int could probablly get almost every skill in the game.
