On another forum the size of Oblivion was set at approximately 15 X 15 miles. Which is quite small.

Now I did a little bean checking and came up with the following:

Using fast travel it takes 10 hrs to go from Cheydinhall East Gate to Anvil Main Gate. It takes 9 hrs to go from Chorral North Gate to Forshin (sp?) Mine.

I have no idea how the game rates travel speed for Fast Travel so I used a guess for my figures based on 4miles walking for an average character. I think Fast Travel would be faster so I used 6miles per hr.

That makes Cyrodiil roughly 60 by 42 miles which is not very large for a country.

Does anyone else have any information or ideas?

Before Morrowind and Oblivion, the developpers made the megalomaniac's wet dream, 'Daggerfall', which was an unnecessarily huge pile of bugs and poo, even after many patches and bugfixes. Oblivion and Morrowind are a decimal from Daggerfall and thus, work.

I heard about Daggerfall. You could go to any of the nations of the empire, but there was complaints of how everything looked the same. And the bugs...

Anyway while Oblivion is smaller then a country should be I'd rather have a small perfected land to explore then a buggey bad looking large one

Just to explain, Daggerfall was twice the size of Great Britain.

Oblivion's size always bugged me, story wise. First of all, there isn't a single operating mine, all are infested by goblins, or whatever, so where are they getting all their metals? A larger country would explain that "Well it's just somewhere else", but there isn't nowhere else.
Secondly, I would think building a bigger Imperial city and restoring some of the old ruins for outposts would be a better decision than building many 'cities' that are only a little outside of visual range from each other.
Thirdly, some climate changes are "unnatural" like a druid would say, from south to north there are: A) Swamps B) Grass fields C) Snowy mountains. And while maybe two of them might go together, not all three.

And yes it's a game and I shouldn't get all worked up about it. But it just bothers the experience.
