Well, I was just wondering what you´d consider be best.
I´m a dwarven berserker. He´s gonna use crom faeyr. Is it best putting points in single handed or sword and shield-style slots?

Well.. Now I´m gonna go to bed. The time here´s right now about.......... 01.00
see ya tomorrow and I wanna see some answers ´til then :D

  2. I think u should go for Sword & Shield, u'll earn best AC on that. And the "Warhammer(or Mace) & Shield Style" is often used by the dwarves.

As I remember, both of those options only improve your AC against missle weapons. As such I never considered them worth it. If I was going to use any of those type of profeciencies I'd go for the two-weapon style or two-handed weapon. This gives you the option to dual weild or use big weapons when you need to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible, especially against mages. In those cases Ac doesn't matter much anyway. Of course last time I was also playing a Barbarian so dual wielding made sence. But looking at your recent posts you won't want to hear how good my Barbarien was ;)

If you're going to choose between single style and sword and shield pick single style. Sure it won't work if you use a shield but it improves your ac as well as your chances for critical hits. sword and shield style is useless, if you're going to fight sword and shield then use those prof points for something else.

I think single weapon style is better due to the improved chance of a critical hit. The AC bonus vs. missile weapons in sword & shield style is IHMO virtually useless - you can achieve proper protection by using the girdle of piercing, boots of avoidance, a large shield if needed and wearing a fieldplate.

[IMG] First of all, Slappy: Exactly :) I don´t need to know about yer barbarian :D

Second: Yeah, I know that it´s useless to use it just for the bonus of getting protection from missile weapons. But, shields can be great! Since they can give you (often) much more ac and such. If I choose single weapon style, and then use shield - I don´t get the extra ac for using the slots in single weapon style nor do I get the bonus critical chance do I ??????????

    hm.

Maybe early on single weapon style might be useful, but late game when you start finding +4 shields...... Thats an AC bonus of 2 vs an AC bonus of 5... take your pick....

If you're playing a berserker, I think it would be better to go for the more offensive styles - would you really use a shield? Two-handed or two weapon style seem best.
