[IMG] Today makes the fourth time I've seen an enemy mage kill themselves with their own lightning bolt, and this one was outside! And then the ones who cast it inside, I mean geez they're mages you'd think they would have the intelligence to cast something else. I get a good laugh out of it though.

Yes, I've seen it also, but forgot...

Anyway, every new day with every new info I hate this BG2 more and more. Including d&d rules.

and that is exactly the reason why I dont use lightnig bolts in BG, because I know, no matter what, they will come in my general direction

I must agree with the last poster--

    mages in my game either

    1. die too fast to cast any offensive spells

    2. time stop, gate, powerword stun/kill.....

I never saw one enemy mage cast lightening bolt at me.. but I never used it myself for the same reason (I guess)

I see different spells all the time. I get magic missled, acid arrowed, horrored, etc. I am all the time getting that third level bolt of flame spell (can't remember the name). I've been fireballed, held, and had creatures summoned.

You guys must jut be too fast. Try to drag a battle out and see the fun stuff.

I guess, as a Half-elf kensai, I just hit the mages first to prevent them from harming me too much. I usually leave the melee types for later....

A well aimed lightnig bold can be key in a battle. It has the ability to harm numerous enemies, yet also to be directed in a fashion so that your characters are safer, unlike fireball. It is all the angle of the bolt...

[IMG] Heh, I can imagine it now. A wizard holding the staff of lightning as far away from him as possible, pointing at the enemies and firing it while crying out DUUUUUUUCK!!!! at his party while he jumps for cover.

There is a funny bit in bg1
You go under gullykin and you find this realy powerful mage (he holds a strong tactical position) and he immediatly casts lightning. it comes towards you. You step out of the way and it kills him and half of his body guard.
    I laughed so much!!!!!

    Hey Spud -

A similar thing happened to me with Minsc in an earlier game. We were clearing Nalia's Keep's rooftop durring a storm. All of a sudden, Minsc (in his full plate armor) got absolutely zotted. I tended to stay in out of the rain after that. :)

[IMG] Hehehe,I dont know why, but on bg1 whenever I got Khalid on my side, he always got struck by lightning and never the gargantuan minsc or any other person in metal armor, never did any damage though, raised a few laughs when he was in the middle of saying something in his stuttery way and then ZAP! :D :D :D

All that armor is a great conductor. Yes I got spontaneously hit once in BG1.

    Minor Spoiler

And this reminds me (I might be a little fuzzy on the details but this is what I remember) of the time, waayyyy back when...I had Jan Jansen in my party and was working on that quest for the Temple of Lathander and getting the Dawn Ring back for the temple. We met the thieves or whatever in a house on top of the Copper Coronet and he wanted us to swear our alliegence to Talos and Jan pipes up and lies and this lightning bolt comes out of nowhere and just shocks the crap out of him :D How can you not like this game?
