I just got there, and those Iron machine things are ripping my party to shreds with their throwing axes.

    Any suggestions?

ON EDIT: I've played the game on Insane up until this point, and still am. I also have the option (I tested and reloaded) to go with Hjolder (sp?) and start TotLM. Should I maybe do this and power-up?

My suggestion is always to finish IWD completely and then start a HoW-only game. Makes more sense story-wise, and you get to upgrade a weapon that you find at the very end of the game.

As for the Iron machine... I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Where in Lower Dorn's are you, exactly?

I think he means those bronze sentries on the level of the watchtower. The only real option is to pummel them with hasted characters, blunt weapons work quite well.

I'd wait with HoW btw, finish the main game first.

In lower Dorn's Deep there are only tarnished sentries.

If you cast "protection from normal missiles" or "entropy shield" you are immune to their throwing axes.

They usually only attack the enemy they see first.

You can keep the others busy with summons while you hack at them one by one.

They are vulnerable to static charge, lightning bolt should also work.

A few spike growths can also do quite some damage.

If everyone in your party has the same alignment don't forget to cast "righteous wrath of the faithful". It's attack bonus actually stacks(!) with haste. Only party members with the exact same alignment as your priest get the extra attack, though.
