Seeking robust player for subtitled movies

    I have a number of movies with separate subtitles, mainly asian movies, and I cannot find a decent player to display them.

    BSPlayer standard rings my spyware alert. Zoomplayer, though otherwise superb, sucks with subtitles.
    Windows Media Player is ruled out for ideological reasons.

    Any ideas what's a good choice?

    As much as I love VLC, it occasionally tends to choke on subtitles. It works fine if the subtitles are "standard", but things like two subtitles tracks running concurrently usually messes things up.

    Media Player Classic beautifully renders any subtitles I've cared to throw at it, no matter how fancy they are. And in case you're wondering, no, MPC has nothing to do with Microsoft or WMP, it just has an interface that looks similar to the old WMPs (though it's a completely different code, and it's much more powerful under the hood)

    I have both VLC and WMP. What's wrong with WMP? It's my default player, although I use VLC to play the files that WMP cant

    I didn't had any problem with VLC, and it's a great player. I assume your subtitles are .srt or .sub ? That's the most common.
