I've been considering the freakish juggernaut of murder that is Sarevok, and I'm wondering from where he acquired his unique equipment.

For example, I doubt a contemporary smith would have created the macabre armour that he wears, and the Sword of Chaos seems too powerful to have been forged in modern times.
From this, I have come to the personal conclusion that his equipment is most likely relatively ancient artifacts, possibly even found in the Temple of Bhaal.
After all, he must have gone there before, it's not unlikely that he found a suit of armour suited for a servant of the God of Murder, considering the skull and bones motif. Since the Sword is a Deathbringer weapon, it was probably most likely sought out by Sarevok when he was studying Deathbringer lore, and happened to come across accounts of the Blade of Chaos.

This is all just theories, though. Chime in if you have your own ideas.

In ToB he comments about his sword and armor being gone, but that they wouldn't work right anyway without channeling his Bhaal spirit. I think it's possible he found Bhaal's sword and armor from when he walked the world during the Time of Troubles, which is why it would resonate with his Bhaal-tainted soul.

Yes I agree, he mentions that after you killed him, his weapons and armour dissapeared, so therefore he must have aquired them from something or someone Bhall related.

But wasn't Bhaal's basic form in the Time of Troubles the Slayer? I mean, apart from when he changed his form to... propagate. I recall Imoen mentioning it in Spellhold after you change for the first time.

Hell no. (Pun not intended.) Having such a distinctive form during a time when he could be killed would make him a target for every righteous hero or army. I suppose he might've been that stupid (I don't know the canon), but I sincerely doubt it. Imoen (and others) mention things about the Slayer form as a way to tip off the player, but I don't think any of them actually says anything about it happening during the Time of Troubles.

[IMG] Since this thread will inevitably contain ToB references, I'll move it to the ToB forum.

IIRC Bhaal was in human form during the Time of Troubles--well, the parts where discussed in the Avatar Trilogy series of novels, anyway. He possessed the body of a human soldier, and kept on using it long after it had suffered fatal injuries.

If I recall correctly Sarevok had dark clerics working on dark magics for them, I therefore assume that they worked on these items.

In the same way that Yaga-Shura's ma (Priestess of Bhaal) worked on dark magics to give her son his immortality.
