Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, as it applies to all of the D&D games...

1)what weapons can you backstab with?

2)are there any skills that work at maximum while wearing armor heavier than studded leather (I want to play a fighter/thief, skilled in locks and traps... will these skills work in heavy armor)?

    TIA

I'm pretty sure you can back stab with any weapon.

You can you can use all your theives while wearing any armour exept for hide in shadows/backstab.

Elven chainmail will allow you to use thief skills and mage spells however you will lose some of your points in them while wearing.

You can backstab only with the weapons a level one thief can use. (e.g. not bastard sword, warhammer, two handed sword etc.).

However in 3rd edition you can use your thieving abilities in ANY armor yet you suffer large penalties (-10 or even -20 if I remember correctly) and backstab with any weapon.

The Red Dragon Scale is quite good, unless you fixed it's bug... :)

You can backstab with any thief weapons. It's said clubs and staves also working, but i can't do that for example with staff of magi... and i dont have any intention to do such a werid thing... :p

Backstabbing is possible with any weapon a single-class thief can use. You could backstab with a regular staff, but the Staff of the Magi is out because a single-class thief can't use it.

Any armor beyond leather incurs penalties to thieving skills, and you can't hide in shadows in anything heavier than studded leather (except for elven chain mail).
