[IMG] Something remarkable has happened as a rersult of Blair's pro-war course, and I actually admire the courage and consequence of Robin Cook to do this step:
Peronally I think country that makes military considerations dictate political decisions and timelines is on a dangerous path. It is ignoring Clausewitz' principle that war is the continuation of politics with military means. Once the decision for a war was made the US foreign policy was only aimed on supporting that path. That is a very dangerous and destabilising path. The decision to go to war without UN support is a clear violation of international law. The current US government doesn't give a ****.

The more honourable is the consequent path Mr. Cook has taken. I can only second the arguments and reason he has expressed in his speech. Applause from here as well.

PS: I highly recommend the lecture of this interview with Scott Ritter, former UN inspector in this context, to underline some of the statements Mr. Cook made.

Ragusa, sorry to spoil your post but Slappy had already posted that speech here in this same forum. It is still a very strong one and I too admire Cook's character.

A comment was made today in the newspaper than Darwinism is evident in Australia since the British first started settling. It seems that since nobody in the ruling party (Liberal) here says a word in protest over the war in Iraq, that Ministers have evolved since leaving Britain. Now Australian ministers are spineless. There has been evolution from vertebrates to invertebrates!

    Darwin was right!...

There is a lot of protest against the war here, and not many people care for "Seppoes" very much...
