Where do I find one in SoA?

I know where the Evil and Good ones are, but can you get a neutral...?

 

I don't think so. If there is one, it would be from the Smithy in Trademeet, but I'm almost positive he only has the good one.

 

I dont believe that he does. The first time you can get this robe is in TOB I'm afraid.

Romance jaheira, wait for a certain mystery mage to appear than snaffle his robe. You *may* have to kill him to get it.

I don't have Jahiera in me party and always get looping dialogues when I try to romance her anyway, for some reason.

I just have Jan and Edwin in the same party. I have given Edwin the Robe of Vecna (because he is me best mage) and I don't know what to give Jan. The one he comes with is ok, but not World Class.

 

Doesn't the item upgrade mod allow you to upgrade Jan's items? Or am I completely off my kilter?

I normally leave Jan with his armour. It's not brilliant, but it really is pretty much the best you can do.

 

In trademeet you can get an elven chain which is perfect for Jan as he retains both his thief abilities and magic abilities. It is an evil outcome reward though.

 

There are many fixes for the jaheira romance, but i'm not your man for that. Ask beren, hes your best bet. I think ease-of-use and baldurdash might help.

 

Agree with Apeman. There are several sets of elvin chain available throughout the game, but he's right in that the first one is the evil quest in Trademeet. I think you only get a few thousand XP for returning the heirloom to the mayor anyway, and you'll make most of that up with the fight anyway. Once you get that, you're pretty much set with armor, but you'll want to upgrade once you get the better set in Suldenesselar.

 

You can also stick the AC3 bracers on Jan, which is about as good as you can get with a robe. I then just swapped them out when using his own gloves.

 

I lost the chance of getting the armour in Trademeet, when I poisoned the Druid Groves fountain. Oops.

I'll try and get some, some other way. In't meantime, I'll make do with his stuff.

Those Archmage robes give AC5 IIRC, you can beat that with some bracers (1 AC3, 2 AC4), and then put on another robe, like the one that gives another -1 against slashing weapons, for instance.
I wouldn't buy it, neither the evil or the good one.
Precisely, in the Underdark you can get AC4 bracers for free, why bother with the robe?

 

If you want to get cheesey, you can (well, not in your game, Barmy Army) give the mask to the mayor, and still go and kil the dude with the Elven Chain (no reputation loss).

Jan's got a low STR score, though. It's tough to have him carry those flasher bruiser thingys and elven chain mail.

 

Know how to get round that? give him a girdle of (insert giant type) strength.

 

Just like the Girdle of (slashing AC bonus) isn't in SoA, I think it's cheesy that Robe of the (Good/Evil) Archmagi are in the game, but not the Neutral one.

Sure, that'll work, but it's a huge waste of a Girdle of Str on Jan, who should never enter melee combat anyway (hence, eliminating the need for the Elven chain in the first place).

His personal armor, along with a mirror image and stoneskin memorized are Jan's best defenses.
