Been ages since I've played IWD2. Some questions:

    1) I noticed that the premade parties already come with starting equipment. If I made my own party members, they're stuck with quarterstaves. Is it considered cheating if I console in REGULAR weapons for my party? I find it unfair that I get penalized for originality :p

    2) Considering this as my party setup:

    a) Half Elf Paladin of Helm/fighter (Jaheira's Kid)
    b) Human Barb/Fighter (Sarevok reborn?)
    c) Drow Battleguard (Viconia reborn?)
    d) Human Monk/Rogue
    e) Wild Elf Sorc/Bard

Are there two handed weapons I can give to my Sarevok wannabee? Are they harder to get than the Holy Avenger?

For character d, am I better off with a Monk/Rogue combo, or is it wiser to go for Ranger/Rogue? I know that the Ranger seems to suck now...but I don't want to consult walkthroughs to get me out of the Fell Wood and I'm not so keen in trial by error navigations...

    a) Well so long as you don't console in tower shields and plate mail or enchanted weapons you wont be really unfair. Then again why not go with the stuff you will anyway pick off the floor. It's not as if they don't do the job well enough.

    b) Considering he is a Sarevok wannabe, the Holy Avenger is pretty useless for him. Make sure he is neither lawful nor good so you can weild the best weapon in the game for a beserker (it awaits your purse in Kuldahar). There are a few decent weapons to be bought at the Gallaway shop but you won't find a real powerful weapon till you defeat Sherincal.

As far as the Fell Woods are concerned, the barb also has Wilderness Lore as a class skill so you can have him learn it instead of having to take a Ranger.

There are loads of great two handed weapons in the game. I always equip my barbarians with big two handers because that is the best way of getting past some of the tough enemies who have damage reduction.

    b) I hope you realize that IWD2 happens before BG2. :)
The best two handers fall under Polearms and Axes - just take your pick out of either. The weapon Shrikant suggested falls under the Polearms category (I think).
I agree with Shrikant that your Barb should be taking Wilderness lore instead. As an additional suggestion, don't multiclass your sorcerer - you'll be leveling up slowly and you'll be seeing results pretty late in the game.
