[IMG] I'm curious as to the reason why we can't reply to our own posts for follow-up information if nobody else has posted.

Case in point. I started a topic in Techno-Magic about getting a new monitor. Well, I have finally decided which one to get and have ordered it. I was considering updating the thread so people could see what I went with. My only option would be to edit my post, but then it wouldn't move to the top of the forum and in all probability nobody would notice the edit.

In such a case, you can ask any mod/admin to provide a filler post so you can reply again. The system is in place because until we had it, people never bothered to edit their posts to correct them or to add things, but rather made 2 or 3 news posts in addition to the original one. Not to mention people replying to their own posts every 20 minutes if no one else replied.

So this is simply extremely efficient spam prevention. Without it, we'd probably have 3 times as many posts by now, most of them spam or unnecessary.

But yes, the system's not perfect... it'd be ideal if people could reply to their own posts after, say, 24 hours had passed. In the future I'll look into making it like that, but for now you can just ask a mod (or anyone else you know) to provide a filler post so you can reply again. As long as it's done for a legitimate reason, it's not an issue.

At least it should be allowed in the CS. That way we could have stories flowing without the need for them to be broken up by comments.
The comments could then be handled in a seperate post with all sorts off OOCness and explianation.

A second account for bumping up CS topics is allowed if you intend to post frequently. It has to be named YourName-CS, like Abazigal-CS.

CS would be the obvious first recipient of the benefit of allowing people to reply to their own posts once it became possible.
