NEW MOVIE! Reign of Fire :flaming:
I first saw the preview for Reign of Fire when I went to see The New Guy. I want to know if you think it's going to be as good as I think it will be.
    ......:mommy:......:mommy:......

    Here's the main plot:
Some kid awakens some fire dragons; they grow in numbers, and wrek havok on the Earth. So mankind decides to fight back. Magical monsters from the past v.s. modern technology! Sounds like a great plot if you ask me! :rolling:

The tiny preview in total film says this:

Dragons. Stonking big dragons. That breathe fire. And swoop the city chasing screaming blokes. Who then fight back with helicopters. What genre fan can say they're not excited by that? Reign's trailer has been building anticipation with its post-apocalyptic vitas of destroyed Engliah cities and talk of slaying the beasties by cutting out their hearts. The X-Filesmovie director Rob Bowman's at the helm and Matthew McConaughey's the Yank warrior who joins a bereaved Brit (Christian Bale) in battlling the scaly menace. Should be great.

    Could be Dragonheartwith guns.

Release date: July 12th 2002 (Although the magazine says August 23rd)

Sounds pretty good so far, here's some links:

Godzilla?!?!? *phhh* Godzilla was the worst movie I have ever seen! The only thing scary about that movie is the fact that people actually liked it!!! I'd rather be stuck in a crowded theater watching Pokemon, whith little kids all around me; than see Godzilla again! :rolling:

Reign of Fire looks pretty good. I believe Matthew McCaanngoughey (yes, spelling :) ) is in it, and I'm a pretty big fan of his work. The CG dragons don't look exceptional, but they look better-than-average and certainly adequate for Reign's budget. Basically, I think Reign of Fire will be a cult hit, especially with wanna-be Brit dragon-smiters. :):D

Kitrax you should've known I wasn't serious. I was trying to imply that this movie will be as crap as the godzilla movies. Except of course it will have spectacular special effects and people will go *wow* watching it and then they'll praise how good it was :p

[IMG] The preview made me think of the Rifts game. I was waiting for a Glitter boy to show up and start blasting the dragons. The effects look good in the preview but the acting appeared a little weak. It will most likely turn out to be a brainless summer action picture. All be it a fun one.

It doesn't look like anything more than a cheap action movie to me... just with dragons. :p

    [IMG] looks great, tastes awful.

appears interesting, so i'll see it, but it'll probably be crap though.

I saw a commericial for it. Looks like one of those movies with a halfway decent plot and storyline, but is insanely popular because of cool special effects and big explosions. (Plenty of which will probably done with dragons' breath and fighter jets launching missles at the dragons.)

But dragons and gunfire. I love it. I am a sucker for action :1eye:

I just saw the billboard today -- looks marvelous. As I said in the Comic Movies topic, cgi monsters and stuff blowing up are two of the three requirements for an enjoyable movie. (I don't say a *good* movie.)

I loved Dragonheart -- I laughed all the way through that movie -- Sean Connery was hilarious (James Bond, his majesty's B-movie voiceover hack)

I'm sorry, maybe I'm too cynical for my own good, but Reign of Fire looks to expand on the 'fantasy movies are crap' theme that is so seldom deviated from.

The entire trailer smacked of 'D&D: The Movie' badness. Did the producers of this movie sit down and think to themselves "How can we make a huge summer blockbuster bomb?"

If so, they seem to have found a winning formula: D&D + Waterworld + The Postman. I guess Kevin Costner was busy...that's too bad, he could have brought some melodrama to this movie. Oh well, I'm sure the movie will fail without his help.

Oh yes, you remind me, Mage, of the only cgi-monster-and-explosion containing movie in my recollection to just completely suck. Except, of course, for the BGII demo on the DVD.
