Here's a little test to show whether you are red leaning or blue leaning here .

A rather interesting test actually, because I considered my self mostly in the center of most issues, but if I had to commit to either red or blue, I'd say blue, yet my score placed me in the red.

I agree that some of those questions were about truly trivial subjects, and that I didn't know what they all were either. However, I think that's the point. I think if you don't know you're supposed to guess. For example, for some questions if you're red, you'll know the right answer. If you're not red, you'll probably guess one of the wrong answers.

I am in the middle, probably cause I guessed at a large majority of the questions.

I have no clue about most of those questions. Eh. :heh:

I scored in the middle too. I had to guess for a lot of the questions and the ones I didn't guess on were roughly 50-50 red-blue so I suppose that the result makes sense. I can't say that I really care that much about either party and I tend to be middle of the road when it comes to politics so I guess that is a logical result.

It's an idiotic test. Just because I know who Dale Earnhardt is, and who Lee Greenwood is, and who wrote the Book of Revelations, and how many hours a day Rush Limbaugh is on the air, doesn't make me "red" for god's sake. I also know how to make a sh*t sandwich. Does that mean I'm gonna eat it?

Why this test is getting so much attention lately is beyond me. I've seen it posted all over the place. This, combined with William Saletan's lame "Kerryisms" is starting to quickly whiddle away my respect for Slate. Most of their articles are really funny, but stuff like this is just downright retarded.

I had done this quiz before seeing the link here, and I have to agree with DR. It's massively stupid. Took me a while to figure out what "red" and "blue" were referring to, as well. In this election season more than any other, I have to say "Thank God for TiVo!"

They also need an option for "Don't know, don't care" ona lot of those questions to avoid mischaracterizing people who guess well. WHat color are the DK/DC's? Green, maybe? Ask Ralph Nader...

I guess it only applies to Americans too, you could have suggested that at first Aldeth :(

Hell, even if I was American I would be thinking along the same lines as DR. What a hoax! The questions have nothing to do with what they are trying to class you as.

I have no idea what red and blue mean. Is this something to do with politics again?

@ Harbourboy - yes. Typically speaking, "red" refers to the Republican, or more conservative party, while "blue" refers to the Democratic, or more liberal party. Sorry for not mentioning they were American terms, but as I didn't think any other country used the red/blue color designations (mostly because they have more than two active political parties) I thought it was self-evident. Obviously, it is not.

    @ HB

Red = Conservative, ie. Republican mostly, but can also include the Libertarian party

Blue = Liberal, ie. Democrat mostly, but can also include the Green party

edit - Yeah, what Aldeth said.

Well, the two main Canadian parties use red and blue for their colours but just to be different the Liberals are red while the Conservatives are blue.

Well, I scored somewhat red, but I agree, most of the questions are not only pretty irrelevant, but seem to be based more on stereotypes then anything else. Because you're a Republican you MUST lioke NASCAR? Libs are automatically ignorent of the Bible? Conservatives can't be vegatarians? And precisely what does women's fashion have to do with anything?

p.s. I actually used to live near a Super Wal-Mart, and that is what it was called.

About the colour designation I find it rather funny and a tad ironic that ultra-antisocialist GOP carries the colour which traditionally "belongs" to socialists of various kinds. In Europe we also have the red/blue distinction between two major blocks despite there being more parties than two. Red for the socialist parties and blue for the liberal and conservative parties.

Thank you, joacqin! I too find it bizarre that the Republican party, so often associated with anti-communism and rich bluebloods, should be associated with the color red. Maybe it's just a word association: "Republican starts with 're', red starts with 're'..."

Incidentally, my score came in the middle, leaning blue. I think that pret' well sums up the test's usefulness.

The test made no sense to me at all.
Well, I'm not American, but after the first three questions, and the last, I decided this was not for me.
    Regardless, I'm rather right-wing.
Except the racist bull-sh*t pretty far-right in fact.

I was exactly in the middle. But then in RL I have been know to take either side of an arguement just for the sake of arguing.

    Hey Grey Magistrate...

    Retarded starts with "re" :D

I scored in the middle, slightly more blue than red, which seems very appropriate for my political leanings.
