Red Dragon

    I was wondering what would be a best book for helping to create a red dragon. Would it be the Draconium or one of the Dragon Apends? Maybe something completely different?

    A red dragon PC? 2e had the Council of Wyrms boxed set for that (which I have :D ), but I don't know what you would use for 3e.

    not as a PC, he's suppose to be created as a plot specific NPC.

    Need information as to what "power" dragon he would be, his HD, attributes, spell like abilities and under what circumstances Red Dragons are liable to actually pay for services rendered (as I don't really desire to have him wipe the floor with any PCs that would return to him for reward for finishing the task he gave them).

    I'm not use to the monster manual dealing with some of the behavior specifics I need (so I seem to get stuck buying Slayer Guides to figure out how monsters like find interesting work, don't think there's a Slayer's Guide to Dragons). Also Dragon specific manuals often seem to extra mechanical tidbits and help with the creation of campagain specific dragons.

    I was just reading through the Draconium this weekend, can't remember how indepth it goes into Red Dragon psychology (which was because I was wasting my time looking at Half Dragons, which it only did the Liang Half-Dragon indepth :grr: ).

    Monster Manual + Draconium, between those two books you should have all you need.

    MM gives you all the stats to setup a Dragon of any of the 10 standar colors from wyrmling to great wyrm age. And draconium should have any informationm you need about what motivaes them and how they act etc.

    But a red Dragon can generally be described as : chaotic, evil, greedy, treacherous, proud, vain, cruel, hungry, very very hungry.

    some compare them to cats ;)

    I've got to get around to buying those Monster Manuals... that there are 3 of them (at least) is a little bit intimidating (and they're 40+ from what I remember doesn't help either).

    Well it looks like I know where wad of cash I come across is going.

    It would probably help if I tried to pick up strictly Player books or DM books instead of a hodge podge of both with my limited cash supply.

    You only need Monsters Manual 1 ...

    I never even bothered to open my MM2, and didnt bother buying MM3... if i ever run that out of monsters to use, ill make them myself!
