Recruiting People

    ... Have I made a thread like this before?

    Anyhow, I am not recruiting you people, so never fear, I'm not going to try pull you away from the D&D that you cling to. :p I'm seeking RL people to recruit, and am unsure about how to go about it.

    The advice that I seem to have heard in the past is to put a thing in a comic book/hobby shop - for me that is very impractical. The two such shops I know of are a long way away, and I would prefer to game with people that I know.

    Which leaves me, surprisingly, with recruiting people that I know - which is quite difficult. The few that have heard of PnP (mostly those I've told about it) are flat out not interested for no reason I can figure out.

    However, wargaming seems to be becoming popular. The problem is that wargaming and roleplaying are very different things, and I doubt the people who enjoy the strategy of wargaming are going to like roleplay that much - especially if mentioned that it had its root in wargaming. False expectations and such.

    So I'm at a dead end. I have one, maybe two people I could interest - but I'm doubting it. Should I just bash random people over the head with a blunt object and drag them to a session? :confused:

    Out of curiosity, what do you mean by wargaming? Do you mean gaming that actually deals with mass combat, such as Chainmail or D&D Miniatures, or just combat-intense D&D?

    If it was combat instense D&D, I would be extremely happy - at least they would have heard of D&D :grin:

    But yeah, Warhammer 40k.

    I met my gaming group through Wizards.com

    This method might help you locate gamers closer to you (as you've stated that your gaming stores are a considerable distance away), but it won't help you recruit your friends. :(
