I can't seem to find a solid answer for this, so here goes:

Is there a way to make a character who dual-classes before the starting level in BG2? I am trying to recreate a PnP fighter (4)/cleric character but can't find my BG1 discs and don't really want to play through that atm anyway.

Also, can I use something like gatekeeper to allow this character to use edged weapons? (he was a follower of a custom made deity and could wield the deities symbol, scimitars as weapons).

Well, if you do find your BG discs, you can always use the CLUA console commands (link - scroll down to Icingdeath45's guide) to level a character to the right level then dual class. That's how I made my Fighter(7)/Thief(x). Without it, you'd have to do some shenanigans with ShadowKeeper. I normally avoid doing this with dual classed characters, as I'm never sure if it's worked properly until it hasn't. :p

You can for NPC's if you use the Level 1 NPC mod from G3 - the NPC starts at Level 1, with 89,000 XP in place but not leveled up. You can then use Shadowkeeper to reduce the XP to get to the level you want, level up, dual over, and carry on.

For your main character, the only way I know of is to use SK to reduce the level to the one you want, adjust HP, saves, etc. to the appropriate values for the level, then dual over and carry on.

In BG2, it's called Shadowkeeper. And no, I don't think so.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Sounds like it's possible, but I'm in the middle of moving and can't dig out the discs yet, but I'll try it in the future. :)

The thief's [snip] will allow a cleric to use blade weapons. You can give it to your character ala Shadowkeeper. You'd just have to make sure you don't use wizard scrolls, robes, or other things you don't think you should able to use as a fighter/cleric. Just be careful, I find that giving clerics [snip] causes Baldur's Gate 2 to crash to desktop when you try to load the save game.

BG1 lets you dual class to a specialist mage class. If you import a character like this from BG1 to SoA do you keep you specialist mage class or do you turn into a regular mage (as SoA only lets you dual class to those)?
