Rashemen - Character Thread

    This is a thread relating to the Rashemen RP. It's where you should post your character details before you bring them into the game.

    Just a few simple guidelines:
    (1) Don't make them uber-powerful! Nothing spoils a game more than an Elminster (or Drizt) take-off.
    (2) See number 1.
    (3) Make sure you provide a description of the character, so we all know who we're talking to.
    (4) See the above guidelines before posting a character.

    There's no real limit to the number of characters, but don't use too many - one is best, maybe even two, but much more starts to get messy.

    Here's my character:

    Name: Sepp Blackfoot
    Sex: male
    Age: young adult
    Race: halfling
    Occupation: farmer
    Skills: druid level 5/ ranger level 4

    Appearance: 3 ft 1 in tall, 50 lbs, light brown hair, dark brown tanned skin, he wears goatskin breeches, a white linen shirt, a leather vest, and a black woolen cloak. He carries a stout wooden staff.

    EDIT:

    Now he wears elven chain, carries two maggic green long daggers, and many other items in a bag of holding.

    He has recently gained the wild-shape ability to turn into a small earth elemental, the same size and shape as him.


    His dog Black is, well, black, floppy eared, 2 ft 6 in at the shoulder, and has a distinctive scar going across his face from his right eye to his left upper lip. And also he is the reincarnated form of Sepp's uncle, Charley Blackfoot, who used to be a master thief, but is now stuck in the body of a dog.

    EDIT: Black is now unfortunately dead.

    Class: Fighter
    Follower of Ilmater.

    Appearence: Young for an elf, but old for a human Jex looks to be around 30. He stands at 5'10 and weighs 150lbs. He is slender but muscular from years of farmwork and adventuring. He has handsome features with seem to be dulled by an odd grey skin colour that both hides and reveals his heritage as half drow. His eyes are a bright red in both regular and infra red, and his hair which he keeps cut short is black but streaked with white giving him quite an exotic look.

    Items: Jex doesn't carry much. Basic travel equipment and his weapons. His armour is constructed of toughened leather and chain mail. His scimitars have minor enchantments and the blades are engraved with a scene of a battle from years ago. Around his wrists and hands he wears red cloth, wrapped and with the ends dangleing about 6 inches from his wrists.

    History: Jex comes from a small town in the Amn region of the realms. His mother, Tiell who tended a small farm that she had inheretid with the death of her parents lived a hard life of hard work and very little money but she managed. One night when Tiell was returning to her small farm she came across a man who was injured on the road. She gathered him onto her small cart and took him home. It was when she arrived home and got him in her house that she realized that he was a drow elf. He was called Velesse

    Over the next few weeks, Tiell tended to the elf and eventually she learned that he had been attacked strictly because he was a drow. In order to repay her, he began to work on the farm. Doing small jobs and eventually they fell in love. After a few months Tiell learned she was pregnent and 7 month later she was blessed with the birth of her first and only child whom they named Jex'talin.

    The small family was happy tending the farm, with the presance of Velesse, the farm prospered bandit quite comeing around. The feared the drow, and rightfully so, he was very skilled with his scimitars and was willing to put them to use to defend his stead and his family. He had began training Jex as soon as he could which was around the time that the child was around 8 years old.

    One night when Jex was 17, bandits who had gathered the nerve, fueled by mead and looking for trouble attacked the farm. Velesse and Jex put up a good fight but they were eventually overcome. Velesse falling and Jex haveing to gather his mother and flee into the night. The following morning Jex returned to find the farm burned and his fathers body deserated. But for some reason the bandits had leftm his fathers armour and scimitars. Jex gathered the few remaining items and returned to his mother.

    Moving her into town was difficult, but they found a small house and lived in the security of a gated villiage until the day Tiell died. By this time Jex was 25 and ready to move on. The day after his mothers funeral he left town and has adventured ever since. In the 30 years since leaving he has seen much of the realms from Waterdeep to Icewind Dale and from Silverymoon to Carradoon and Shimilista. It is his firt forage into Rashemen.

    After a recent experience with death. Jex has become more reckless and more willling to charge headlong into battle. Death no longer scares him, instead he finds it welcomeing.

    Class: Druid
    Age: 20

    Atten is a young druid. He used to live with his mentor in the Erech Forest, but a recent tragedy has seen the death of his mentor. Unfortunately, this has also resulted in his druidic training becoming a bit disjointed. Atten has a strong affinity with the living force found in animals and plants and has been training in the mysterious arts of Shifting. At the moment, however, the only shape he can reliably take on is that of the snow-white squirrel that is often seen in these parts. This shape is not particularly useful (except to retrieve nuts from the tops of trees). In an emergency once he actually managed to become a small wolf but he has not managed that since.

    His skills and spells are centred around being in tune with animals and plants and often don't seem like magic at all. He hasn't mastered the skills that control other elements of nature yet (e.g. he can't manipulate lightning or earth)

    He's not much of strong fighter. In D&D terms, he would have average to low strength and dexterity, but would have a high wisdom.

    I'll work on the rest as I go along.

    Note: I want to introduce this character later, since I will be gone for a while a few days after posting this anyway.

    Grenn Wolfeater - uncouth barbarian

    Sex: Male
    Race: Human
    Class: Barbarian

    Description

    Grenn Wolfeater comes from a tribe that lies even further north of Rashemen. He is a tough man, tall and heavy. His long hair is a mess, and it smells like he should take a bath sometime soon. Grenn wears animal hides, and carries a large battleaxe and a wooden shield. His equipment is in fair condition; it is all mundane. He is imposing, and looks like the sort of person one would want on one's side in a fight, but doesn't at all look like someone one would bring to the duke's dinner party.

    Grenn has long brown hair, brown eyes, no beard (he shaves), is 6 ft. tall, and weighs about 200 lbs.

    Personality
    Simply put, Grenn is a jerk. He's loud, rude, uncouth, a braggart, and holds more than a few stereotypes about women, elves, the little folk, and civilized people (i.e. non-barbarians). What's more, he's a rather vicious person, and relishes straightforward combat more than most people. Of course, he holds a few more endearing qualities, one of which is his unfaltering courage and determination to beat the odds. Especially if it will bring him gold and renown. Grenn also loves loud, exhilirating music and good food. He has acquired a taste for Rashemen fare. Especially sjorl.

    Grenn is not very intelligent - even for a barbarian - but he has a sort of animal cunning, and he has a decent force of personality. (Think of it as low Intelligence, but above-average Wisdom and average Charisma). He loves fighting and killing, but reserves it for monsters. If he could get away with it, Grenn probably wouldn't think twice about attacking someone who looked at him the wrong way or stealing from another adventurer. But this is Rashemen, and even Grenn is smart enough to follow the rules - and not earn the ire of a bunch of crazy warriors and witches.

    History
    Grenn belonged to a barbarian tribe north of Rashemen that revered wolves. When he accidentally - so he claims - killed his brother, he was banished from the tribe for a period of twelve years. To spite the tribe, he took on the surname "Wolfeater." Now, he travels south, looking for fame and something to liven up the boredom of being an exile. He has some experience being an adventurer, as he has killed a few goblins and orcs and taken their loot, but that's about it. Grenn thinks that it'd be awfully exciting to do something like kill a dragon or a giant.

    Grenn has a little bit of reverence for the pagan spirits of war, but that's it. He doesn't trust gods.

    Appearance

    Eiberk is medium-sized(for a dwarf anyway), but is incredibly broad. His massive beard and hair covers almost his entire face, the only thing visible onder his tick eyebrows are his brown eyes, a broad nose and something that might be recognized as a pair of lips. He is always dressed in(custom-tailored of course)red and white-striped pants, held up by a series of leather belts, which all hold pouches, bags and scroll cases. A long line of colourful potions travels around his belly. A deep-red coloured long vest holds numerous pockets and straps to house items. Above a large brown hat, topped with a red feather, a series of huge backpacks are strapped tightly together. Impossible amounts of objects, trinkets, cases, bags and chests are entwined between cooking gear and an impressively large, overtly decorated musket, a truly exotic weapon indeed.

    Personality

    Eiberk is loud, always in for a good joke, and grabs hold of a potential customer tighter than a weasel. His capacity for both carrying stuff around and holding ale is legendary. He is quick to befriend someone, and usually tops one of his jokes off by slapping one's shoulder and following up with roaring laughter. Eiberk loves to collect everything, and that's everything he can get his hands on. Seeing as how he's been on the road for 30 years, it's a rare thing indeed that he doesn't have an item a customer is looking for.

    History

    Eiberk was always going to be a special case. Already at young age, it became apperant that he was far more open and social than the average Dwarf. He was supposed to become a blacksmith, but his love for collecting stuff quickly got him into the trading profession, which meant he would have to travel around constantly, something his family didn't regret too much in the end. Over the years, he acquired many contacts and friends all over faerûn, though he never stayed long in one location. He spent a great deal of time crafting his weapon, a giant musket. His most recent travels have brought him to Rashemen...

    From first glance, Alinys seems a kind old lady. Her hair, white with age, sits at about shoulder hight, in a single braid, as is common for females in the land. Her skin is slightly darker than common around these parts. Her eyes are dark green.

    She usually is dressed in long flowing, simple brown robes, made of thick wool. When outside the town, she, more often than not, has a large staff in one hand, acting as a walking stick.

    Female

    Karren is a simply young lady. She never has adventures, never fights evil, never saves the world. Karren, with long flowing, golden hair and bright, bulging, blue eyes, is a simply commoner of the town. She is usually dressed in casual tunics and rags. She is a single mother, her 12 month-old baby usually in her arms. Her baby, Lachlane {Lack-lane}, is small, even for is age, with green eyes from his unknown father and a small tuft of red hair, also form his father, upon his head.

    Karren, being a commoner, is usually found in a nearby tavern, for she is always on the look out for money and pay. Being a single mother struck her hard when her husband left in the night, and now she is constantly struggling to survive, day in and out.

    Well, that's it for now. Rotku, is my character ok?

    Nakia (Nakialatrudalamentra Nochedramantrium, eldest daughter of the Chieftain of the Burrow of Satranamentula.)

    Lightfoot(3.5ed) Hairfoot (2ed_ halfling - Ambidextrous. Pure thief (2ed) - About 2 feet 11 inches(89CM?). Dark curly hair, large black eyes and skinny for a halfling.

    Excellent thieving abilities including set and disarm traps. Night vision and with Jag’s glasses she has Darkvision up to 60’. Good assassin skills: back stab, sneak attack. As a halfling she gets a bonus to thrown weapons, dexterity, move silently, morale against fear but a minus to strength.

    Equipment - Family sword with bonus to assassin skills, family studded leather armour (extra protection from missile weapons, not sure what else it might do.), sling with various kinds of bullets. She saves the exploding ones for real emergencies. . Throwing daggers including poisoned ones. Various pouches with potions and of course honey mead and cakes. A raggedy bag-of-holding which is hidden and could contain Jag’s sword if he put it in there. Her metal baseball cap (Specially made for her). Wears gloves without any tips. Under her armour she wears a tight fitting ninja type outfit. She is barefoot, although there are times she would like some boots of speed. Everything is black. There is nothing to reflect light. She has recently acquired a thief’s ring that has a small but very sharp blade for cutting purse strings and could be used as a weapon in a pinch, also good for lock picking if necessary.

    Personality - chaotic good - friendly and outgoing. She only steals from the rich and gives to the poor (her). Except maybe in fun. She gets bored easily (she can spend hours/days ’casing a joint’) and is very curious. The Big Picture or the Greater Good means nothing to her. The things that interest her are fun, food and gold or anything that can be turned into gold. Family has a broad meaning to her. She is loyal to her comrades while adventuring with them and might even include them in family. She is a follower of Yondalla the halfling racial goddess and of course Tymora but has no strong religious beliefs.

    She comes from a halfling village near Waterdeep. Her great-great…grandfather founded it with a bunch of New Settlers about 300 years ago. In her early days she adventured with an slightly older halfling for a while. They are devoted to one another although they decided to travel separately for a while. She has travelled extensively even to other planes (worlds).

    Halflings also get a bonus to poison resistance.

    Nakia can speak excellent Common but tends to down play it and when excited will use abbreviated speech.

    Nakia has suffered at the hands of humans and so is not sympathetic or accepting of them initially. As she travels with them and they are at least polite to her and do their part she can become friendly and even care about them.
    Added Dec. 7th, 2005:

    Nakia is already a high level rogue. Her skills have improved naturally as she uses them. Probably the primary growth for her is that she has come to realize that the everyday things are part of the 'Big Picture/Greater Good' but she will always consider that what you do now is the important thing. She figures that it's the job of the gods to take care of the Big Picture. After all they should be useful for something.

    Edit: Nakia now has the ability not only to hide-in-shadows but to actually blend with them to the point that she cannot be detected except by someone with a special ability or spell that dispels shadows.

    Some minor changes to bring her more inline with 2ed.

    Maron originally comes from somewhere in Icewind Dale, but won;t tell where. This is to protect the other Avariel there she claims, but those talking to her get the impression she doesn;t want to talk about home much.

    Physically, she's tall for an elf, but around average size for an avariel. She has long golden hair which curves inward just under her jawbone, framing her heart shaped face. She has large blue eyes, and a pale complexion coming from growing up in the snow.

    FOllowing the tenets of her faith, Maron wears flattering clothes, showing off her curvy body.
    She usually wears white breches, and a pink tunic. Her large white wings sit comfortably behind her back, and they flash gold in the light, as the feathers are lightly tinted.

    Maron wields a long handled mace. It's head is fashioned out of heavy glass, and it flashes in the sun when she uses it. Strangely, it never smashes.

    When talked to, Maron smiles warmly, and invites conversation. She's happy to talk a bout anything except her home. Mostly, she talks about her friends in the Starshadow mercenary company.

    Maron is friendly and open, seeing every starnger as a new friend, unsurprisingly as a cleric of SUne, goes out of her way to set people up. However, when anyone makes advances to her, she smiles sadly, and shakes her head. before leaving.

    Feats and abilities: FLying, obviously. Maron can also cast cleric spells. She has few offensive spells, although she is willing to use the ones she has if she has to.

    Weaknesses: Claustrophobia, and a fear of being alone, causing her to make friends easily.

    HEARTWARDER CLASS FEATURES: Charisma increase every other level, Heart of Passion, Lips of Rapture, Voice of a Siren.

    Heart of Passion: +2 bonus on charisma based skill checks

    Lips Of Rapture: Heartwarder's kiss confers a +2 morale bonus on attacks, weapon damage, checks and saves. Temporarily suspends the effects of exhaustion, fatigue and nausea. The recipitent also receives a +2 saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects. The downside is that the kiss also gives the effect of the DAZE spell to the recipient.

    Voice of a Siren: At 6th level, a heartwarder's voice is so enticing that she weakens the ability of opponents to resist her spells. She gains the Spell Focus (Enchantment) and Spell Penetration feats, but they only apply to spells with a verbal component (and are not altered with the SIlent Spell feat).

    Delphinae, a human female ranger. (Lvl 9)

    Raised and taught by the elves since she was an infant, Delphinae (or Del for short) specializes as an expert archer. She can move through the forest or the night with equal facility, due to her dark skin, raven black hair, and too-large pupils. She is also assisted by the cloak and boots that were a parting gift from her adoptive parents.

    [UPDATE2]
    The one item that has allowed Delphinae to get the upper hand in just about any situation is a unique item that she found in the ruins of an abandonned temple to Mielikki. The item was known as the Quiver of Slaying.

    The Quiver is enchanted to provide one each of twenty different versions of the arrow of slaying. An arrow from the Quiver, once used, takes a week to regenerate. Several arrow types can regenerate concurrently, so each arrow can be reused after exactly one week, even if several are regenerating at the same time. Only one of each kind can be used per week (in other words, no substituting).

    As Delphinae has gotten more experience and won more fights, she has gradually stopped relying on the Quiver, and more on her own abilities, but it has come in handy in a crunch more than once.

    When Del was young, her diviner mother looked to Del's future and told her that one day she would be involved in an epic undertaking, but would not survive it. This revelation altered Del's entire nature, making her both eager to seek out this great task, and fearful of death should she ever find it. Over the years, that fear of death was gradually replaced by a lack of concern for her own well-being, causing her to take on any enemy, no matter how powerful.

    Del speaks in a rather grandiose manner, and looks at the world in a black-and-white fashion. She seems to believe that she is the ultimate judge of good and evil, and she acts based on those judgements, though there is a certain amount of room for readjustments.

    When she dedicates herself to a task, she will complete it, or die in the attempt. Fortunately, it has not yet come to that, though how long Del's luck will hold is anyone's guess. Side-quests or minor tasks may take her away from her 'mission', but as soon as it is completed, she returns to her original task.

    After a short series of solo crusades against various 'evils', Del learned of the Fellowship of the Serpent. After thoroughly researching her new enemy (forewarned is forearmed), she has now dedicated herself to its eradication. She has been waiting at the fort for the party of cultists that she saw leaving a week ago to come back, so she can ambush them and gain entry to the fort. Little did she know that the cultists would be attacked and destroyed by Sepp and the others before they could return...

    STATS:
    High STR, DEX, and CON make Delphinae an excellent fighter. CHA is mid-range, as she is beautiful, but her manner is somewhat abrasive to those who do not know her, and her odd coloring for a human earns her many a sideways look. WIS is minimum for a ranger (14), and this combined with low INT makes her easy to confuse, but she will eventually figure out whatever is going on.

    As a ninth-level ranger, she gets two first-level priest spells from either the animal or plant spheres, but they're usually used on Pass Without Trace to supplement her already formidable sneaking skills (HS=121%, MS=120%), or Locate Animals or Plants to help find fodder for her herbalism skill.

    Delinos usually travels in mage robes, with two wakizashis. Underneath his robes he has a tight, black, body suit with a spike on all the joints. His gloves have a blade on each fingertip and his boots have a spike on the heel and toe. He has a wide hood, and two wakizashis crossed on his back for backup.

    Kelvados looks like a normal ranger, with leather/chain mail armor, except he has a sword in almost every spot he can fit one.

    Legs- two long swords
    Thighs- throwing daggers
    Back- great sword
    Back (2)- two katanas
    Upper Arms- two daggers
    Boots- two more daggers
    He also has a helmet that almost looks attached to his head except a spot for his eyes, nose, and mouth.

    Delinos and Kelvados are two noble children of the former DeVir house in Menzoberranzan. When the DeVir house fell they were only 16 and 18. Their sister, Viconia, pulled them out of a wreckage, and they never saw her again. The two fled Menzoberranzan, somehow making their way to Ust Natha. They stayed there for a year or two, then fled for the surface. They have been assassinating people for money, and working as mercenaries, and sometimes killing their employer. They were captured by a wizard and have just escaped, well, were released.

    Class: Fighter/Mage of Highlimb (a special kind of fighter/mage only the elves of Highlimb can be)
    Age: Unknown (certainly young by the looks of him)
    Race: Elf

    Alexi is the Elf Prince of Highlimb. After his entire family was killed he was the only successor left to take the throne. He is rather competent for his age , but there is only so much a young elf prince can do. So he was given royal advisors to aid him when he needed help. (which was most of the time) He is now on a quest to find whoever killed his parents and to stop their evil plot. He is disguised as a prince of another elfin kingdom.
    Alexi Alantie is not his real name. (Although he is from the Kingdom of Highlimb he will say he is from the Kingdom of Mornie <More-Nee-e>)

    Alexi's charming appearance is known throughout the Kingdom of Highlimb. He has semi-short dirty blonde hair that lightens up quite a bit in the summer. He has piercing blue eyes and a face that could light up any room.
