Has anyone found a situation where you could use this ability? It seems like the most useless special ability in the game!

The only use i can think of so far is if you haven't played the game before, or have forgotten what awaits you in an area, then you can find out and possibly prepare your party to the creatures bane :D .

It was one of the most vocal requests on the official forums for the expansion, so it went in with HoW. But I suppose people thought it'd do more than provide a description of the area. :D

Though I think there are one or two cases in the HoW part of the game where it actually comes in handy with some quests.

I've actually found it very useful, so I use it whenever I go into a new area, but you only get it once a day, and most of the time I can't be bothered resting to get it.

    Yeah.

I think I've used it one time, and that was it. And it was just for novelty purposes. Just to see what it did. I usually don't take a ranger through IwD1, because I can't think of any dialogue choices you get with them.

I could imagine it might give you a clue on the Von Trapper Brothers, but I've never tried it, so I dunno.

Also, the trapped staircase in Dorn's Deep might have some clues for Rangers to find.
