Dual wield wasn't implemented in the original Baldur's Gate, so there's nothing you can do.

When you've finished BG1/IWD several times AND you wanna have a dual-wielding ranger, there's one perfect solution: Buy Baldur's Gate 2

Although Rangers are not allowed to dual-weild in BG1 they are allowed an extra attack with longswords I think.

Oh actually you CAN play a dual-wielded ranger in BG1 and not just a ranger but the famous Drizzt Do'Urden. Downlaod de pack that allows you to play him here

In bg ranger cannot dule wield and in IWD if thay are useing a long sword the get one extra attack.
This is why I use a fighter in bg1 and a ranger in IWD

True, and for the most part, Ranger's abilities are pretty much worthless at low levels anyway. Everyone seems to want to play as a ranger or paladin in BG, but I see it as just a hinderance. Their abilities don't really come into their own until about level eight, well out of BG's level range. For most of the game, their just inferior fighters that take longer to level up. But still, it's just so hard not to get attached to Minsc ;)

True I liked Minsc but preferred a pally as they could do some minor healing in bg at least.
