[IMG] I ordered Icewind Dale and somehow got NWN by mistake, but I'm considering keeping it, depending on the answer to this question:
What ruleset does NWN use? 2e, 3e, 3.5e, or something different?

The best one of course, 3rd edition. This game is THE BEST. I love it I love it I love it!! *hasn't slept or eaten or showered in last week because of this game*

*hugs NWN box, kisses NWN box, makes love to NWN box, gets papercut*

I know ur a 2nd edition guy Fel, but believe me, you will love this game. Keep it, or you'll be sorry!

The closest rules it uses are 3rd edition but ever so slightly modified to suit the game.

    NWN rules.

Bugger. Sending it back then. NWN may be good, but I'd rather have IWD than even good 3e. Maybe I'll get NWN somewhere down the line when I'm less petty. ;)
 THAT one's going to be really painful. :shake:

Seeing what you enjoy playing, you will most likely hate NWN. Not the change of rule set, but the fact that you have to play with the camera angle, mess with an overlapping, intricate menus system and struggle through bad spellcasting AI for NPCs.

Yes, Fel, send it back and get IWD instead. :thumb:

Oh yeah, the spellcasting AI is pretty rubbish - although Deekin seems to make the right decisions more often that not in HotU.

Fel I say give NWN a chance. It actually isn't all that bad. I thought the same way when I first started playing but after a while I figured out the game and it is a pretty good game, even if it uses 3e rules. I say give NWN a chance Fel.

So nice you had to say it twice, eh? Look, the discussion is over. I've sent it back to get what I really wanted in the first place, and that's that. And really, people moaning about how good it is will just turn me off; I HATE hype. Any mods that may be hovering can close this down now.

What Abdel said. Give it a go! There's loads of modules out there, and just as many hacpacks. AI will not be a problem seeing as you can just search for a mod that'll change the AI, etc. Plus there's lots of great adventures waiting for you out there...

You just do whatever you want, Felinoid. NWN will fade away into obscurity in a few years anyway.

IWD is a great game. Pick up NWN when it goes on a significant sale. I picked up the platinum version for $19.99 at a local store and haven't even played through the OC yet (well, not past chapter 2). Too many things to do....

I decided to get NWN based on the amount of fan-based modules out there (and the cheap price).
