Do any changes you make to an npc in BG1 carry over into BG2? Such as using one of those magic tomes to boost a stat? I know any tomes I use on the main character will carry over into BG2 but what if, for example, I used the intelligence tome to boost Imoems intelligence to 18 in BG1. Would that carry over into BG2 or not?

My other question is what level should I dual class Imoem to Mage in BG1 just for story continuity? Will it make a difference or does she always start out the same in BG2 whether you import your party or not?

BG2 NPC starting stats are fixed, so they always start the same way, no matter what you do to them in BG1. Speaking to your specific example, Imoen's INT will be right back down to 17 when you see her again in BG2. It sucks, but some others get some bonuses (so they can compete), and it all works out.

My advice: Just spend all your Tomes on your PC for lasting benefits.

You could always CLUA tomes in to make the right adjustment that you saw when you eneded BG1. You could also edit each NPC as needed so they have the skills, weapon prof., levels and HP they had when you completed BG1.

Nah, that would be cheating to me.

Well, if you consider CLUAing cheating, then I don't suppose you'd be interested in using Shadowkeeper to directly edit the characters, would you? :D

Don't worry. All of the NPCs that are in BGI, except for Imoen, have better stats than they did in BGII. If you know you're going to import your character, you're best off giving the tomes to him/her.

I don't consider CLUA tomes in cheating if you have given a NPC a tome in BG1. But as stated expect Imoen all BG1 NPCs that are in BG2 have better stats.
