Since a generic Solo challenge is relatively easy thanks to the entire XP pool going to only 1 character, I've decided to try a new way to do a solo challenge. In a nutshell here are the specifics.

    1. I create a 6 person party, the 1st character can be of any Race or Class. While the other 5 can only be of Races with an ECL adjustment of 0.
    2. Only the 1st character can do anything, the other 5 just sit at the start or at any corner of the map where they can't be of any assistance (even if simply to provide extra targets to draw enemy aggro)
    3. All 6 characters are to be leveled up at the earliest possible time to avoid the level squatting effect.

So anyway, my question is if there's a mod out there that reduces all EXP earned by 5/6ths? That way I only need to make 1 character and not have to deal with little annoyances like having to run the 5 characters away for encounters that occur at area entrances.

There's not a mod, per se, that does this I'm aware of. However, it's pretty easy to modify the MONCRATE file in a spreadsheet program (Excel, etc). That's what I've done with mine.

    Steps
    1. Open MONCRATE.2DA using Infinity Explorer (or other editor).
    2. Copy and paste the current MONCRATE.2DA values into spreadsheet.
    3. Modify the values in the spreadsheet to whatever you desire (e.g. divide by 5/6).
    4. Paste the new values over the old MONCRATE.2DA
    5. Save new MONCRATE.2DA

Obviously, you'll want to have backups in case of errors, but it really is that simple. I actually have several different MONCRATE value sets saved into Excel to switch in and out based on the type of run through I'm planning.

I've tried manipulating the game files, but I can't make heads and tails of how the parameters for Quest XP (it's the AddXPVar function in the DLG files right?) are used.

Do I just reduce the integer parameter by 5/6?

Of course it can be altered -- it's just not as straightforward as doing a table multiplication on the MONCRATE.2DA file. Depends where the quest exp is added - area scripts and encounter dialogues would be a decent first guess, methinks.

Clever idea, actually. :) 6-man keeps the levels low enough to keep the challenge but you get the advantage in numbers, but dividing all exp by six does the same for a soloer.
