My father finaly understood there is no point in having a digital camera if nobody's gonna use it! Anyway is there any way of importing video signal into my compy? There seem to be none, and it really really bother me.

In the operation manual there seem to be none, only in TVs and VCRs.

What's the point of a digital camera if we can't import it in a computer?

Hogwash! There must be a simlpe, easy way to get all the pictures/video from form digital camera to your computer.

Option 1.) There *should* be a mini USB port somewhere on that camera. It may be hidden behind a cover, or flap of some sort to keep moisture and dirt out. If you find a port, you'll need to get a USB cable that has the standard USB plug on one side (for connecting to your computer) and a mini USB plug that matches the port on your camera, on the other side (for connecting to your camera). Once you have the cable...you'll need some software if your OS doesn't reconize your camera. If it does, you can enter the camera as if it was it's own hard drive and copy the pictures/videos over that way.

Option 2.) There is no port at all, *but* there is a removable memory card of some sort. Well, first off, you'll need to find out what kind of memory card it is (i.e. Compact Flash, Memory Stick, Micro Drive, ect.), the you'll just need to buy a card reader for it and hook that up to your computer.

    Hope that helps.

[EDIT] So I decided to go to Sharp's website...just to look, and it turns out, the Sharp Viewcam Z VL-Z7U is a camcorder...not a digital camera...which means it records to those mini-DV tapes...that you'd put in your VCR. So with this new found knowledge, I can't tell you how to get the video on to your computer. Maybe next time you should buy a digital camera and not a digital camcorder. Sorry. :rolling:

Couldn't you use a video capture card? The ones you can use to watch TV in your PC?

Well...If I strech my memory a few years back, to high school, I recall a camcorder hooked up to a video capture box, by means of three cables (video). The box then streamed the video in to a program on the computer. It was a mac though...but I'm sure a PC can do it if a crummy mac can.

So you'll need some sort of video capture box...a circuit city rep could tell you exactly what I'm talking about. And the box should come with the software you'll also need. :rolling:

Camcorders also have USB and/or FireWire (i.Link) connectors. There's probably some software that came with the camcorder that you can install on the PC and use it.

I just checked this Camera online. To get the DV recording onto your computer you need a Fire wire cable and your computers needs a Fire wire port. Roughly $70 and you are set to go. If your computer already has a Fire wire port all you need to do is pick up a cable and download M$ movie maker 2.0. or another video editing software.
