Question about Maximize spell

I finally got my cleric up to 12 level and acquired the feat, Maximize spell. I've got some great 3rd level spells that I want to maximize and this shouldn't be a problem since I can cast 6th level spells. But how on earth do I do it? I haven't a clue. I've tried right clicking going to meta-magical feats and clicking on Maximize spell. I am then given a choice of levels 0 through 6. I don't know what to do. I've clicked on 3. I've clicked on 6. How do I throw a maximized 3rd level spell? What do I click on?

you need to memorize them as maximized spells

okay go to your spell book. Under all the normal spells for that level should be a list of the spells that you can use your meta-magic feat on. Now select the spell you want, than rest. When you wake up you can cast the spell. to cast the spell you can right click on the quickbar and select spells, go to the level with the meta-magic spell, and select the spell. All you than have to do is left click the icon and target a enemy.

 

Hmmm a little more in depth than my response, easier to understand i would think too.
