Ok, in my family every male has a "project car" which basically means they bought an old junker that's really old and are restoring it back to it's prime state.
My dad is restoring a '32 Ford Model 'A', my oldest brother is restoring a 1914 "horseless carriage", my other brother is resoring/tricking out a '64 Chevy truck, my other older brother was going to restore a '50's Doge Dart, my brother-in-law just got a '60's MG B, and as for me, I'm going to be restoring a '63 VW-23 window Deluxe Bus as soon as I find one that isn't too trashed.

What about you? What have you restored; or what do you want to get in the future to restore? :rolling:

Good luck with your '63 VW-23 window Deluxe Bus. My Uncle's best friend restored a Model T Ford from basically a pile of junk into a real beauty but it was WAY too much work for me. Plus it is almost comical how many people have asked him to drive the bride to the church, and the married couple to the reception, for weddings.

Wouldn't it be just cheaper/easier/every-way-better to buy a *new* car/motorcycle?

If all you want is a car to drive then I would agree with you Virne but that is not the purpose for which people tend to restore a classic car.

The restoration process is a hobby to these weird people and the restored car is a work of art and source of pride and bragging rights for them.

I imagine Kitrax's father will start driving his restored Model A to work on a daily basis around the same time as pigs fly and hell freezes over.

Exactly! It's not very often that you see a perfectly restored classic car driving around, and when you do...don't you turn around to look at it as it drives by?
Actually, when he dies, I am the one who will probably get it; and I plan on tricking it out. I'm going to put a chrome Chevy small block in it and take off that ugly looking hood. Right now it has a top speed of about 40, when I'm done with it it'll be able to do a good 110. :rolling:

My father is restoring an Austin Healy. Can't say that I envy him on this.

A car is a true work of art, and you should admire people who restore them! :) Kitrax, would it be possible to show us some pics of the car? Do you have a site?

I don't have a car, but I've always wanted to restore an old motorcycle. Top of my list would be a Triumph or an Old Enfield :)

A friend of mine and I brought this '85 Daihatsu Rocky back to life, so that we can wreck it once again :p . We've got a couple of mud guards from and old Pajero and two new doors (we made them) since those pictures were taken.

@Ancalìmon The Wise: Saddly no. My dad has a bunch of pics of it around the house, but our scanner died. :rolling:

    Ancalimon.

I don't mean that I despise him, I mean I don't envy the amount of physical labour he is going to have to put into it.

I do admire his skill, but I couldn't be bothered using so much time, energy and money on nothing more than an old rusty chassis that is older than me!

I hope that he takes me for a ride when it's done! ;)

    Kitrax.

Only if you come along and you are in the driver's seat because you guys not only have the wheel on the wrong side, you even drive on the wrong side of the road. I'll be too confused :p

Ummm...last time I checked, it was you and your fellow countrymen that are driving on the wrong side of the road! I think your country's transit system managers were smoking crack when they decided on a layout for your roads! :p :rolling:
