With a clean install (SoA-ToB-patch) I tried loading TDD. According to ShadowKeeper, some of the item descriptions have been replaced by dialog text. What gives? Also, it does not appear that ShadowKeeper works, in that I cannot make changes to a saved game and then save those changes. Any ideas?

I'm playing with TDD installed now and the bugs are just plain irritating. Several of the enemies in the game have had their names changed to lines of text, some of the items Ribald Barterman sells are missing descriptions and other random items I've picked up are missing descriptions and have a sell value of 0. And this is with the latest patch installed as well.

As for editing saved games, you can only edit something that you save and give a name to, not quicksaves.

If you look through the original game, there are items which show up with weird descriptions in ShadowKeeper. This isn't necessarily a problem with TDD, since SK allows you to view creature-only items which wouldn't normally appear ingame. I'd suggest checking to see if everything appears normally ingame, rather than relying on SK.

With my game, my biggest frustration was not being able to talk to people. Some kind of error with NPC dialogue. Blue ring around them and everything, but I got the 'Joe Blow appears busy' message. This happened on everyone from Ribald to the Cowled Wizards, to the friggin statue in the shadow dungeon. After I reloaded a 3 or 4 times it seemed to work, but man that got old FAST.

You have WinXP without the latest game patch, by any chance?

Yup on WinXP, and I did install 103A Patch. Aside from that though, overall I guess I though TDD was ok. It was nice for all the experience my party got for completing all those extra quests. My main character (female elven priest of Mystra) was level 19 by the time I hit the underdark. But the quests themselves were poorly thought out and not all that interesting. Not to knock it though - I'm all about free expansions. I just didn't think it added much to my experience other than a training camp for my party.

I meant the latest official Bioware patch for BG2 (or ToB). The "X appears busy" problem is a known issue with the unpatched game, regardless of TDD.

I played through SOA, then bought TOB, and patched it neither time - never had a problem. Then I get TDD, plus all available patches and in comes the 'busy people.' Weird.

Installing the latest official patch (regardless of whether you intend to play mods, although it must be installed before any mods) is always a recommendation.

I agree, and that's what I do with all games now. But I'm saying that in this particular case, it still happened WITH all latest patches installed. But in the end, I still played it and received an all new gaming experience. Which is, of course, the point of mods. :p
