Problems saving with Multiplayer

I am trying to play a multiplayer session by myself on my computer so I can generate my own party. FYI, I have no Internet connexion from the computer I tried this on.

I managed to create my characters, and start the game. But then, no matter what I do, I just can't save: it keeps saying "you can't save at this time"

This ever happen to anyone?

Is soneome trying to talk to you? I get that with the Kivan romance. It occasionally happens right after Irenicus and Imoen get taken away.

Try walking your party a little away from where they are when you start the game.

 

I refused Jaheira and told to get lost hehe
Then I walked around and killed the Mephit on in the room with the lightning interruptor, but I just can't save.
My more general question then: how do you effectively so a Multiplayer solo without any Internet connection?

 

Did the game Autosave nonetheless? If so, you should still be able to port your custom party to a regular game (which inevitably means no delay and none of this chat interface).

If you need a quick guide, all you have to do is find Auto-Save0001 in your MPsave folder of your BG2 directory, copy it, and paste it in your Save folder. Then fire up regular BG2, load your AutoSave, and enjoy!

EDIT; At the very least, try to save it in Single Player using the above method and give us news. If it still doesn't work, then you might need to re-install BG2 or your mods.

Play on a closed LAN. I play all my multiplayer games through the LAN of my hubby's and my computers.

 

Congratulations. You have just killed my rational side.

Fortunately, I never really paid attention to him. So to answer your full question;

As the marilith outlined, you can either play on a LAN, or if by 'multiplayer solo' you meant making all the characters yourself, you can start a regular multiplayer game, assign all characters to yourself, then save it and transport it to your singleplayer save BG2 folder.

so I made my multi game a normal game by copying the files and all, but still, I can't save, nor can I rest for that matter...
oh well, I'll just carry on with my current game then!
