Prestige Class

    How can I select a prestige class? I have Hordes of the Underdark installed but can't get access to the prestige classes. Please help.

    Prestige classes can only be taken during levelup, never as a starting class. This is because every prestige class has prerequisites that need to be met before you can start taking levels in them. For example, the Red Dragon Disciple needs your character to have at least one level of Bard or Sorcerer and you have to have put at least 8 skill points in Lore. This means that the earliest you can take this class is level 5.

    Yeah, each prestige class has some prerequisites so you have to plan your characters carefully to make sure you get all the prerequisites in place as you level up. It's a bit like designing a university degree.

    Do prestige class levels count for the XP penalty?

    I mean do you have to keep them balanced against the other levels your character might have?
