I am playing this game for the first time, and I have a question that may have been asked before in other threads.
Is it possible to give potions to my henchman, or are they just for my character to use?

Yes, you can give potions to henchmen. They will drink the potion immediately though. You just click the potion and drag to your henchman or their icon and they will drink the potion.

thanks for the reply. So I click on the potion icon itself, and then drag the mouse cursor to the henchman's icon? The 'use potion' icon just would make my character drink it, so it has to be a different way for the henchman. I will try that.

Is this described in the manual somewhere? did not find it there.

I am playing with the 1.69 patch.

It's a drag and drop function; click and hold the potion, then drag it over to the portrait of the henchman and drop. IIRC dragging and dropping it on their sprite works as well.

It also depends on how the henchman is scripted -- in NWN OC, the henchman will immediately drink the potion you hand him, but in NWN SoU and HotU, you can also directly place the potion (and some other magic items, IIRC) in their inventory, and they will drink it when they deem it appropriate (at least, that's how it works with healing potions).

I have Daelan as my henchman now, and he sometimes drinks his own healing potions without me giving him anything. I never noticed this before, although he sometimes seems to forget and waits for me to do the healing. :)

I think they get a "healing potions per day" or "healing potions per level". I'm not sure which. They seem to get recharged either after resting with full health or after leveling up. Maybe getting healed by Aribeth is the trigger, I'm not sure.
