I DLed the BG portraits from the mod list, but I cant seem to figure out how to import them into the game. There doesn't seem to be any instructions included with the download. How do I get them to show up in the custom button in game? ( I presume)

Also I DLed the BG sounds for characters, same problem sorta. I put them into the sound folder, they show up in the "in game list", but when I try to test them they are silent. Will they only work in game?

And one more thing while I am at it. I also DLed a mod for 3rd edition rules, I thought I read it would no longer give me str bonus to 18 (like 18/51 ect...) but when I roll a character it still gives them to me. I installed the mod as the instructions said to, and it said it was installed sucessfully afterwards. Is there a way to check this in game?

    Welcome to the Boards.

You need a 'Portraits' subfolder in your Icewind Dale folder paste your bmp images there.

Regarding sounds, BG sounds can't be used in IWD (the filenames are not the same). So you have to look for other files or change these files to make them work:

As for the mod, I didn't try that one, I read somewhere that it changed XP points for leveling up (which is really a bad idea).

See if elves can have 20 DEX, 3E mod gives +2 racial modifier to ability scores instead of +1. Also, each stat now should yield +1 bonus per 2 on top of standart 10. ie: A character with 12 CON should have +1 HP/lvl. (in 2e 15 CON gives +1 HP/lvl) Also, a character with 8 CON will have -1HP/lvl penalty and so on. You can check the effects of ability scores from character record screen, and from the game itself. A 12 CON fighter should have 11 HP. (10 base, 1 from high CON score)

Also, mages and bards should have extra spells per day from high ability scores. Create an 18 INT mage and he should have more than one lvl 1 spell slots at lvl 1. (or more than two, if you pick a specialist.)

However, as Caradhras so kindly pointed out, do not install the mod's '3e XP tables' components, they mess up the game pretty badly, and horribly unbalance it.

An 3e character requires so little XP to lvl up, even in highest lvls their lvls require mere 20K XP/lvl while 2e characters, require millions of XP to get to highest lvls. You do the math, your characters will all reach top levels in a very short period of time if you have 3e XP tables. All other components are fine and OK but please do not get that one, if you had, uninstall it ASAP and start a new game.
