This isn't really a big thing, but it occasionally bothers me. How do you pronounce this word:

You're actually having us vote on this?

IIRC, one of the Genies in BG2 has a voice clip where he says he is a Dou Djinn, and he pronounces it "dow-JIN." At least I'm pretty sure, anyway. So yeah, I'm with C'Jakob.

When I was younger, I thought it was Da-jinn. But then it started to sound like "The Jinn" so I dropped the first syllable altogether and said "jinn" like C'Jakob and everyone else.

And according to the dictionary, this is the proper way.

BTW: djinnni is the singular form. Djinn is plural. (Again according to the dictionary) Now THAT I didn't know.

To my credit (or discredit?) I don't really remember a whole lot about BG2.

I see. I suppose that would explain where the word Genie comes from.

Djinn --> Djinni --> some idiot hears it as 'Da jinny' --> 'the Genie'

Hmm. Must have been all those bad Swedish accents in that movie the other day.

Edit: I hadn't thought about a silent D at all. Whoops.

Right! Pronounce 'djinn' with the letter 'd' silent.
