    I'm trying to do all (at least most) of the sidequests in chapters 2 and 3 in a game with a solo archer.

    These are obviously the best short bows (my specialty) available at this stage in the game. Which one should I use?

    BTW, I have the Quiver of Plenty +1, so running out of ammo for Tuigan isn't a factor.

    Tuigan's definitely better. The extra attack gives you a better chance to disrupt spells.

    But aren't Tansheron's bolts lightning or something, and pierce stoneskin?

    That might be Gesen's, come to think of it. I'll definitely change to that one when I can.

    Tuigan would be better, although Tansheron's would still have its uses. You'll be hard pressed in finding +3 arrows in SoA, for example, and Tansheron's fires these by default. (invaluable vs golems, etc)

    EDIT: spelling

    Thanks, SI! So, I should take both with me? Interesting!

    It would be best. In fact, now that I think about it, Tansheron's is the only bow which can fire +3 arrows in SoA. (The Gesen bow fires +2 ones)

    I think Gesen fires +4. In previous games, I've hit adamantite golems with Gesen

    I prefer Tugian, mainly because I send all of my fighter types into melee and I leave my bows to my non-fighters. As a result actually hitting the enemy (from the increased probability from the extra attacks)seems more important than the extra 1-2 damage. Also even without the quiver of plenty there are tonnes of magical arrows in the game aswell as some that are categorically better than the +x type (bighting, acid and fire come to mind).

    Gesen = +4
    Tansheron = +3
    Tuigan = Whatever you find.

    My vote went for tuigan bow since three times the potential is always better than one. When you run out of arrows, simply change to one of the other bows or use only gesen.

    Wirhe, you seem to have muddled the Tugan and Tansheron bows. Its the Tuigan is +1 of itself, and varies according to the arrows you use, and it is the Tansheron that fires what I would call '+3 bolts of force'.

    I always carried both around, the Tuigan was equipped most of the time, but as Scythesong mentioned, the Tansheron bow is perfect for the iron/adamantite golems that in several places in the game cannot close with you. Equipping Korgan with the +3 dwarven thrower hammer works even better, but that is not really the subject of this thread.

    Here's from an old post:

    And another:

    It basically depends on the character and specialty. Tuigan is quite impressive in Mazzy's hands and flat out awesome with an Archer. But most characters will do best with either Tasheron's or Gesen (higher to hit helps).

    IIRC, Gesen's fire arrows with electrical damage, which may be the reason why you're damaging the adamantite golems. It's not +4 though, you can't hit Kangaax with it.

    100 something in a single round. For a GM Archer with improved haste cast on him thats 9 shots per round.
