[IMG] When starting a new SoA game whats your preference, import your last save/character from BGI or start a completly new character? In the past I've always started fresh, but I'm about to start a new game that continues from my last save in BG, have you tried this and did you find it beneficial in anyway?

Benificial, yeah, you can use the tomes in the original to beef up your character, with 8 tomes, 1 for every stat and 3 for wisdom..

Aaaand, I prefer the original to SoA ;)

Although I prefer to import a character from BG, the problem is taht I don't have that many characters from BG to import. Plus, usually when I start a new BG2 game, it's usually just to try out a new class, or a new npc or something.

It really depends. There's the great point about the tomes in BG1 that will help beef up your character. This is especially useful for multi-classed and dual-classed characters, as typically they cannot become extremely strong in all of their relevant statisitics, and the books will help out some.

I myself usually import a character. There are only a few reasons that I would not. Before BGTuTu came out, if you wanted to play a wild mage, sorcerer, barbarian, monk, or any class with the race being half-orc, you had to start a new character as there was no way to have one of these options in BG1. If you were playing a single classed character, there also wasn't a great impetus to start in BG1 as typically you could get powerful stats just by re-rolling a few times. There's also the XP bonus you get by going through BG1 first, although that is truly irrelevant past the very early stages in the game. A new BG2 character starts with 89,000 XP, while an imported character can have up 161,000 XP. When you are talking about an experience cap of 2,950,000, and extra 72,000 XP to start up really doesn't mean anything. The only benefit is in the very early stages of the game where you get one extra, or at best two extra levels to start the game with.

I've only imported a character from BG1 twice...and those times were when I was playing as a true figter, and a true thief. I just prefer the start from scratch in SoA for some reason. :rolling:

I've never managed to get my ability scores from BG to import properly into BGII so importing a character is no use to me.

Nah! Can't be arsed to play through BG all the time truth be told... Although I have been known to use Shadowkeeper to... compensate for having no Tomes :p .

I normally import a PC from BG1. The only time I'd create a new character, is if I want to be something that I couldn't be in BG1. A sorcerer for example.
