[IMG] So after watching Jay Leno tonight, I can't help but wonder how people feel about snakes in general.

Personally, I love snakes. We used to have a 15" ribbon snake and a similar sized garden snake, and then there was *my* snake, a 12+ foot long Albino Burmese Python. I'd get another (maybe not albino) in a heartbeat if I had enough money to afford a proper sized cage, costs of food, and if I didn't have two cats that are about the size of snake food.

    How about you? :rolling:

I've got a Western Hognose Snake in my basement... which is technically illegal in Minnesota because it's venomous, but's it's rear fanged and it's poison is about as potent as a bee's. Corn snakes are technically illegal in Minnesota because they're "constrictors"... such a stupid law. No size restriction on constrictors and toxicity levels on venomous snakes. If the thing can't hospitalize you, why should it be illegal?

Wait, constrictor snakes are illegal in Minnesota? How f***ing stupid! Constrictors (i.e. pythons and boas) make the best pets!

The only time my python ever bit someone was because she was in the middle of shedding her skin, and the moron had just handled a rat before reaching in to her feeding box. Of course she bit him! But as soon as she found had his hand was too big to be a rat, and didn't feel like a rat, she let go. :rolling:

Generally I like snakes unless there is a wild one hidden in a place that I am about to go (for instance, when i moved the lawn mower a couple of months ago there was a red belly black underneath it which was quite a shock)
However, I hold no love for king browns they are viscious buggers and will attack without hesitating, but that is where the faithful snake dog comes in.

The poll didn't really have the right answer for me but I voted "behind glass".

I don't love snakes but neither do I hate or fear them. I respect them. Snakes kill vermin such as rats and mice.

There are no wild snakes in Ireland, but I did see lots of grass snakes in Scotland.

There are no snakes in New Zealand, wild or captive. They're not allowed here.

    I like snakes :)
My personal favourite's the Emerald Tree Boa

People always think they feel slimy to hold, but they're not. They're actually really dry :)

But there are plenty of tame ones down at the pub. ;)

I haven't seen any snakes in Newfoundland yet. What do these reptiles have against islands? Can't swim far enough? :hmm:

The closest I've gotten to a snake was a Coral snake a neighbor had about 25 years ago. His name was Charlie.
Strange. They're found in Iowa (endangered) and aren't considered venomous.

I used to have a Molslang when I lived in South Africa. Found it as a 4" Infant, the snake park (100 yards from where I lived) told me how to look after him, as an adult he was 6' long nad slept under my bed. His name was Jasper.

Snake s are lovely :D I am too far north to ever encounter them in nature, though... they just canöt take how damn cold it is here. if I lived further south, though...

I wouldn't mind getting a pet snake, except that I hear they stink :p

It was passed in the late 90s as some overarching bill against "exotic" pets after some moron did something stupid that I no longer remember with his pet crocodile/alligator. They're trying to crack down on wild cats now too after some lady was killed by a tiger she owned.

Anyway, the law was suppose to elimate the owning the likes of coral snakes, cottonmouths, reticulated pythons and the likes by those who aren't registered to hand such animals, but being that they didn't exactly know what they where talking about, they outlawed more then they intended.

My ex had two cornsnakes, they were great pets. I don't know if she still has them, though.

Snakes make great pets, but I don't really like having to give them dead mice to eat - I actually like rodents, I had three rats so far. I'm more of a scorpion fan. I have two of those and they're great pets - they're easy to maintain, they require but weekly feeding - and eat crickets, plus, they look amazing under a blacklight!

There are few animals I'm afraid of, but I'm definitely very afraid of snakes. ;)

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been even a single snake in NZ. Unless someone smuggled one in illegally once.
