[IMG] I think the paladin is fairly underpowered in NWN. The only decent skills he has is Lay on Hands. A skilled Fighter/Cleric can be stronger in almost every respect than a similarly experienced paladin...So what do you think?

What about the disease immunity and the holy aura (I think that's it) where the CHA modifier is added to all saving throws? There are other special abilities too aren't there?

[IMG] True...I guess I'm just bitter about losing detect evil...And no spells til 6th level! PLus, losing the warhorse in crpg's is huge!

They should compensate by giving the paladin proficiency in the bastard sword for free!

I agree with you Bel. I had a Paladin/Cleric when I went through the solo game ... no regrets. Fighter/Cleric might have been more powerful ...

I don't think a pure pally is a good play in 3E rules (especially NWN, even in IWD2). You need some fighter levels, or something else.

I think I'd change smite evil to be something that you can use multiple times per day based on character level. Another thing I was thinking was it would be nice if her spell list was a bit different.

At first level bless, protection from alignement and resistance are all good spells. They may be underestimated because I've read elsewhere that mathematically a +1 to hit equals ~ a 5% increase; it is easy to see the +1 absolute and not be impressed but the relative increase is fairly nice. So, you've got two spells which I'm assuming (stupid of me probably) stack so that is a nice little boost.

The second level spells are great with Aid, Bull's Strength, Eagle's Splendor, and Resist Elements. All very nice buffs before a big fight.

It's third and fourth level that I thought were sad. You stick it out long enough to gain these spells and they aren't as impressive as a whole as the second level spells to me. Third level has dispel magic which may have some uses and prayer. Fourth level has Cure Serious wounds and the nice Death Ward. In single player where there are plenty of items that make you immune to death magic Death Ward isn't such a big deal but I would imagine it could be a very big deal in other mods.

The problem is Free Movement, Neutralize poison, remove blindness/deafness aren't such hot spells given how long you have to hold out to get them. What if instead you could get something like searing light, protection from elements, dismissal....

I'd think some beefing up of spell casting and maybe some of the abilities she already has like smite evil might make her more appealing.
