Once again it's been too many months I spent away from Baldur's Gate due to the temptation that is MMORPG, currently I've taken it upon myself to make enough free space on my harddrive to reinstall BG2/ToB.

This run through will not include BG1 or any mods. A mod-less, straight run through just like the very first go through when I bought the copy of BG2 fresh nearly a decade ago!

I'm leaving my next run through up to a poll. I'm not putting up every choice, but I'm putting up as many as I will actually attempt . Everyone's vote counts, so don't count yourself out!!

I quite like the Half Orc Fighter/Cleric.
a powerful fighter, and some good priest spells. i like being a priest, i hate having my groups priest die and im miles away from any temple and no one else can ressurect, but you you are a priest and you die its game over.

I voted for:
1.Gnome= Bounty Hunter or Cleric/Thief.
2.1/2Ling= Bounty Hunter or Swashbuckler.
Although I love just about any Class-Kit or Multi-Dual class in the game.

 

Gnome C/T. You have the opportunity to romance Aerie, if you play a male gnome. You combine 2 essential classes in 1 person which opens up the other 5 party slots for different combos.

 

Personally I would go for a dwarven Fighter/Cleric. Could be a powerhouse, but not as crazy as a Half-Orc. No romances, but that could be refreshing in itself.

 

Half-Elf Ranger Beastmaster. That should be a challenge.

Although I must admit, the gnome cleric/thief is quite fun (especially solo).

 

Gnome C/T or Half-elf FMC. Not often used class combos (although the gnome C/T has what could be considered "cult" appeal), but potentially very powerful and allow for a variety of party choices.

 

It's looking like Gnome C/T is in the lead, we'll have to see how this turns out. FYI I love this comptuer BG2 is only going to take like 5 minutes to install instead of 30 .


Edit: I'll be starting the run in the next few hours (probably around noon Pacific Time or possibly as late as tomorrow - circumstances meh. So get your votes and opinions in now!)

 

You forgot paladin! BG2 has the best paladin classes EVER, normally I hate those guys.
Human/Halfling Fighter/Thief, no need to explain why, F/T rocks!
Half-Elf Fighter/Mage/Thief is the best choice for soloing (IMO! I don't want to fight anybody if they have a different opinion).

 

I know it sounds boring but I enjoy playing a human Paladin. I guess its my desire to make up for my own personality flaws (ha-ha). Anyway, the Gnome C/T sounds like a good idea.

 

Play a gnome C/T, wearing Jansen AdventureWear, Defender of Easthaven in the offhand, and with Armor of Faith, you will have very good damage reduction!!!

 

I also would have gone for a Human Paladin if it was available.

On the other hand I've never tried a Gnome C/T, but it sounds a good one to try!

HAha, Vote for the "something I missed" part and just tell me to do it, I can't believe I forgot paladin....

EDIT: At this moment I'm moving away from being a gnome multi c/t or m/t as I really hate Jan (annoys me most of the time, cool half the time) and don't want to be like him.

I'll still consider it, just not very appealing. I will be creating this character today at some point, everything is installed and ready to go. (will be difficult without the xp patch).

 

In that case, go for either a paladin or a monk.

 

Play a Half-elf Cleric/Mage. For added fun, SK your kit to Wild Mage.
