Imoen must be feeling so lonely by now. Everyone does enough quests to amass more than 30,000GP.

I typically have more than 50,000GP. And thats pure cash. Being a pack rat, I never sell much stuff though I might buy, or steal, things I like.
So my party's Net worth must be far more.

Yeah, you should buy out the good items at Ribalds--unless you have issues with using things like the Robe of Vecna (understandable) or Shield of Balduran. Even then things like the bracers AC3 and Girdle of Hill Giant strength still ring up a hefty charge on your account.

My party already seems to be overloaded with rings, cloaks, girdles, and bracers that we can't find room for them all, let alone buying too many more. All my characters already have high strength so we have no need for any more strength enhancing belts, although next time around I'll bear in mind that these items are available.

The last few times I've gone through, we paid for the trip, and then spent pretty much every last dime on supplies before we left. So really, I'm usually almost broke when we leave.

I'm like Takara. It's easy to get there by simply doing quests and selling all the magical (+1 or better) equipment that you find. The only thing that might eat away at your cash is trying to buy all the scrolls to scribe for everyone.

I havem started chapter 3 with no money at all (giving 15,000 to the thieves) and left immediately after completing the quests.

I just have more fun going after Imoen as fast as possible.

Buy? Who the heck buys the scrolls? They are the one item group besides potions that you can steal, and never have to worry about selling back. Just quaff a Potion of Master Thievery or two and go shopping.

Yap...I don't buy scrolls...ever.I had about 4 scroll cases full before i got Edwin and made him learn all the spells (you know-erase learn, erase-learn again...and so on) :)
Btw i didn't think that allmost everyone had more then 50k but it seems i was wrong ;) i thought that when people had about 20 or 30k they would just go after Imoen.

That's why I put the word "might" in there... not always true. I'm sure there's some people out there who would buy things legitimately when role-playing a good character. I even tried that before, but I usually get undisciplined and went for a potion of thievery.

Once, I managed to have just 0 gp. You don't need money there, you need +3 weapons.

I rob a bank, and go off to pick her up asap (pickpocket from loads of merchants and sell it all to a fence.) The only quests I do before heading to spellhold are the ones required to get whichever NPCs I want with me, and the ones Aran Linvel has for you.

That's one way of doing it...I guess if I were playing as a female PC, and didn't want to bother with Anomen or his romance, that's probably what I'd do too. :rolling:

How can you not buy scrolls? My wizards "fail to copy their spells" more often than not when they find a scroll so if they want that spell they have to buy it (sometimes more than once....) Plus if you use more than one wizard type you need to buy spells for each one.

I think a lot of people play at a difficulty level where you can't fail copying spells, Harbourboy.

If they didn't, I'll bet there would be a whole lot less of "erase a spell, copy a scroll for the XP" cheese going on...

I didn't even know there was a level where spell-copying was automatic. No wonder I'm finding this game so difficult.

Anything below normal (core) rules eliminates the check for spell memorization failure. It's a good reason to get your intelligence over 18, so that your chance to memorize is 100.
