[IMG] What do you think: which of all SUBclasses adds most, and which do you think is most pointless.
    Obviously.
My favorite is swashbuckler, as it allows your thief to be a reasonable fighter, and if you take one as your protoganist, it removes the need for a thief as well as compromising for a 2nd or third fighter.
I think that the most useless subclass is the bountyhunter, as I don't ever use traps anyway a thief is just for trap disarming and lock picking.

  2. Shwashbuckler get a minus to thief skill points and cannot backstab.(big downfall)

Usseles:the beastmaster. They can only get non-metal weapons making them quit weak in attack.
Best:archer. They get really cool bow bonusses and with elven dex at 19 they are really meanwith any bow.(mabey wizardslayer but I'll stick with archers.

P.S:bounty hunters are good and so are their traps!!!

    Paddy!!!

There isn't a useless class neither a subclass, there are just people who don't know to play well some subclasses. For example, you mentioned the swashbucklers as an excellent class, but I personally don't like them (due to the loss of backstabbing).

I actually love [ToB class], however some people find them quite irritating. So, a better title to your post would be "What Classes/Kits you enjoy most playing ;)

And btw welcome to the boards

[Eh, missed that one before. Don't post ToB material in this forum.] -Tal

Swashbucklers do not receive a penalty to thieving skill points.

Bounty Hunter traps are very useful, especially early in the game. I went to Nalia's keep before I had any +3 weapons and the Iron Golem was kicking my butt. Luckily I had saved just before the battle. Yoshimo and Jan set about six traps between them. About five seconds after activation, the Iron Golem was gone. There was absolutely no other way (that I knew) for me to injure it.

Traps also waste 'Gaxx rather quickly.. at least his first form. Of course, that's utter cheese.

For your information, CUE, there are THREE +3 weapons inside De'Arnise Hold, and all of them are obtainable before the fight with the Big Dude.

Not counting the MMM from Jan and (hopefuly) your other Mage...

I really like the archer. The bonusses are great. I'm not so good with bards, so I guess they are kinda useless to me

No mention of the Inquisitor? They can beat the hell out of shit as fast as most good fighters, and can slice through most magical defenses, not to mention the added true sight.

Lay on Hands, Turn Undead, and Priest spells are pretty much useless for paladins anyway. :)

[ToB class] can be lots of fun too. :)

I'm having troubles with the Wizard Slayer. Or its cumulative spell disruptor ability doesnt work properly or I am doing something wrong. Problem is that the wizards keep casting after 20 hits.

Archer is a nice kit: a thac0 of -22 is not at all bad.

I like the Priest of Lathander, his special abilities are surprisingly effective against undead and when using the right spells he is a formidable, excessively powerful combattant. Other nice kits are the Avenger druid (as an alternative spellcaster), the Skald and the Jester (both bards are excellent support chars).

Specialist mages are - though not really a kit - cool too, I especially like the invoker.

I find the Druid, Pally and Cleric the best to play:

Shapeshifters are just brill as they can summon a small army and also become a greater werewolf, you can solo with them easily.

Inquisitors are wonderful against mages, although solo is a little hard due to the lack of offensive magic.

Clerics are the easiest especially if they are dualled from a fighter (my preferred option), good range of offensive and defensive spells, solo they are brilliant, epsecialy with fighter skills and the Crom Fayer. talos is my fav kit with them, although i never usually have the patience for evil peeps.

The worst are Bards, Beastmasters and Monks:

Bards, especially Jesters, are great for the all round thing, a little bit of magic, little bit of sword play etc. However at the higher levels their little bit of everything is just that, a little bit. Too much spread over a large area and it makes the Bard a useful addition to a group but totally useless in solo.

The Beastmaster is just a peice of s**t, no metal weapons not only takes away the best weapons in terms of damage but also the best magical weapons in the game too, the stupid animal summoning is hardly enough to amke up for that!

The Monk is not a bad class to play but it does get on my nerves, basically if you like the easy route through a game or you are the sort of cretin that likes to play games on god mode then this is the class for you. A boring and useless cheat kit, totally unbalencing the rest of the classes and indeed taking the fun out of the game. :flaming:

    BEst: Stalker
    Worst: Beastmaster

Finished BG withot a thief, Viconia with high MR walked over traps, and with her girdle she bahed up all doors. My stalker took care of the Backstabbing...

quote: "you're forgetting scouting, backstabbing and traps"

I DONT EVER trap, i think thats sooo lame, and you also need a 'trappable' passage.
Although backstabbing is useful, for me, allround meleeing beats backstabbing, and to get max. exp. I dont scout, I just waltz about.
    btw, whats a wild mage?

    I tried a Jester once .... "once".
I got him up about three levels then decided "this is really lame" and started a new game.

Does anybody like Jesters? If you do, tell me what I'm missing. Perhaps there's a knack to getting the most out of this class.

    [IMG] Modjahed-

Sorry, I'm new to the game and don't know what MMM is.

I thought it cheesy to use the very weapons that the golems were guarding against them. It isn't proper roleplaying to steal the weapons, pause, identify the weapons, pass them to your friends, them attack. It is plausable to set traps for golems that are waiting to be activated.
