[IMG] Clerics main focus is healing, but is it useful in NWN? Why do you play a cleric? Is it for the healing spells or for something else? Perhaps you never play a single class cleric, but rather always multiclass?

I play a cleric, and the spells I use the most are the healing spells. Of course I could rest or buy potions and kits (there's enough money in this game anyway), but I find them useful anyway. Besides, now when we have this spontanious casting, you have to use only one spell slot for cure wounds on each level and still cast the spell until you've used all your slots for that level.

[IMG] Mollusken, with spontaneous casting you don't have to fill up any slots with cure wounds at all! Just drag the cure wounds spell from your list of spells and so long as you still have available spells from the same level, you can cast it. When you drag to the quick slots, it will show a clear picture (not faded out) if you are able to cast it.

One thing to note though. Casting spontaneous healing spells wastes the same level spells in the order from left to right as it appears in your (memorized) spellbook. I generally memorize my most favored spells on the right side slots.

Healing spells for clerics are very nice, but they are less valuable in the official campaign than they would ordinarily be. However, because you don't have to preselect them (unless evil), they are not a hindrance. If you need them, you have them. If you don't, fire off searing light and flamestrike to your heart's content.

Clerics rock because they fight well (good proficiencies and hp), have excellent 'buff' spells, adequate attack spells, and good defensive spells; all on top of the healing. Really, there isn't much they can't do by themselves other than dealing with traps/locks (detect traps is nice, but you can't have enough!).

With my single-class cleric, I usually use the summon and healing spells the most. He fights well enough in melee, and with Sharwyn and my elemental, nothing in Luskan nor in Chapter Three thus far has been able to slow him down. I don't even bother with searing light, flamestrike anymore.

I'm a cleric/Paladin and have been using my summoned Badger alot. Recently I got some cool spells like Bull Strength and have been using that some (I rocked the Gauntlet with it and my Great Axe!!!)

The Healing Spells are good, but not indispensable. I'm finding plenty of potions and heal kits so far. :good:
