Does anybody here like or write Poetry? I tried handing in some of the Poems i wrote to my English Teacher from my website ( The Whole World's Rotten ) for exam Work, and she laughed at me and said they were rubbish and shouldnt be used as Coursework!

Could you people maybe tell me if they're good or not, and if i should take English Literature/Poetry when i go on to further education in College?

  2. Gopher, the question is: Do you think the poetry is anygood?

Id advise on taking the classs if that is what you like to do, and think that you will enjoy it.

BTW, I liked the first poem that I read on the page, just so you know ;)

Check a couple of my poems here , here and here

[IMG] DeBhaal, may I post my honest opinion on your listed poems?

  4. SlimShogun, I could care less if you post it or not, as long as it is creative criticism.

    [edit]
Slim, when I said I could care less if you said anything about it, that is exactly what I ment, because quite frankly, I dont care overly much about what you, as an individual, think of what I write.

That and the fact that I linked to the poems, means that I wouldnt mind having a vauge idea of what other people see in my poetry.

Telling someone their poetry is bad is like telling them their sister's ugly.

I'll therefore withhold comment on all poems appearing in this thread.

There's a poetry thread in Creativity Surge, started by DinoTiggy.

I like most poetry and like writing it

Poetry is a personnal thing so if somebody doesn't like your poetry then it doesn't mean it's bad it means they don't understand the meaning of it

[IMG] Gopher, i must admit, i like your poems. Especially 'Lonliness is drowning' and 'A Boy torn'

I think it shows a good illustration of your feelings at the time. You seem to have a talent for this so while remaining on the topic of poetry, i'd suggest that you join a band and become their songwriter if not one of their players. If you are in a band already then i'd suggest that you try to punp the band up with your songwriting. Its good stuff!

"Loneliness is Red" is a fabulous poem.

"A Boy Torn" uses too much direct imagery. I don't mean to be a bastard, but it reads a little bit like a Dr. Seuss book. Not being much of a poet myself, I can't tell you how to improve it though.

I say this without having read any of the poems linked to above:

deBhaal, never, ever, say that what is most important is whether the author himself likes his work. Iew! Lots of authors write crap and should be discouraged, lest they pollute the world with their evil, evil writings filled with trite cliches and suicidal posing.

[IMG] You're completely correct, Shralp, but some people are sensitive to criticism and since DeBhaal obviously doesn't care, I won't put the effort into making him care...
