Here's a link to another thread with pictures

I just feel so bad for those poor animals, wandering around New Orleans without their owners.

The picture of that dog really puts tears in my eyes. :(

I hope as many of these poor animals will get help as possible.

And I don't want this to turn into a human vs pet thread. Pets are just as important as humans, and these poor animals have no way of knowing why this has happened :(

While I agree that the animals in NO are a major problem, I can't go this far. If I am on a sinking ship, and somebody tells me that their dog is as deserving of a seat in the life boat as my child or wife they will quickly find out that they were wrong.

I'm with jesper -- please let's not turn this into a pets vs. human thread. People may joke about this -- but I don't think it's a damn bit funny.

On the positive side -- the Humane Society is in the process of rescuing as many pets as it can. I only hope they can move fast enough.

The LA SPCA is coordinating a very large effort as well.

It is good to know that those poor pets are being saved. I looked around at the LA SPCA website too, it is a very nice site. (Except for the dogfighting pictures, I could not stand looking at those. People who treat pets like that should suffer the same fate)
I recieved some money today from my grandparents. I can't think of a better way to spend them than donate them to save those poor animals.

I hope that as many as possible will be saved from the disaster in New Orleans, human and animal alike.

Being raised with all sorts of animals in a country made mostly of farms, I've come to feel quite sorry for the animals at the disaster area after viewing some images. The Animal Planet TV channel is also helping out with the rescue of animals and the founds.

Sadly, few people are actually taking the animals into consideration, leaving many to fend for themselves in a ravaged city. It's a bit disturbing to think what some animals (mainly the stray dogs and cats who have never had owners) might be having to result to so that they do not die of starvation or thirst.
