Peculiar Anomen

Has anyone noticed that when you go to the copper coronet to get Anomen for your party, he demands that you proclaim that you are a force of good, and not neutrality or evil?

This is all well and good, but Anomen is of true neutral alignment, so why does he refuse to join you if you proclaim yourself as neutral!

 

IIRC he is Lawful Neutral.

I don't really know but while we're speaking about Anomen I wondered if you'll meet him again if you say that you are evil?? Since when I told him that I was evil he said something like "this is not over yet, Fiend!"

 

I wonder why he wants you to be good, since he complains in just about every good mission you do.

He's just an arrogant bugger at that point, with his single-minded quest to be a paladin. Just because his alignment is not good, he only believes in joining those who are good.

 

I might take him with me when I solo, just to make him fail his test

 

... At which point he becomes Chaotic Neutral, and thus spoil the nice reputation the alignment has in this game. No thank you. Why not just have him walk during the rain in the docks district with 1hp and pray that he gets struck by lightning?

On topic:
Adding to what Takara posted, Anomen believes in good because he wants to be a Paladin - he's not exactly good but as a result of his beliefs he becomes something like one. This also explains why he doesn't have the mentality of a good-aligned person.

 

Nope, he storms out of the tavern and is gone for good. (no pun intended)

 

While we are on the subject of Anomen, I have to caution you: NEVER LET ANOMEN PASS HIS TEST!!!
Why?
Well, as we all know, he's an arrogant bastard in the first place. He's more annoying than my worst enemy and unerringly high-minded of himself. He looks down on you when you do the smallest thing wrong. Especially if you are romancing him. He expects you to be as great, if not better, than him.

If he passes his test, he becomes worse! And his name is now "Sir Anomen" rather than just plain, less annoying Anomen. Plus, while even before he passed he looked down on my lil half-elven mage/theif self, when he passes, he becomes SUPER High-minded Sir Anomen.
I cation you: Stay away from that evil little test!

 

Well, while we're on Anomen and as I'm posting a lot today, don't you think he has too much spells for a cleric with such little wisdom?
I thought restrictions applied for level 6 & 7 spells, but apparently not for him.

I believe anomen is just a poser, he wants to be a big ol paladin but is too stupid and arrogant to be one. Paladins are humble and don't go around flaunting their stuff at everyone. When I had him in my party I hated every second of his existence, and when he eventually said something really annoying I kicked him out of the party, told him to wait here, and kicked his a** back to the hell he belonged in...

 

hehehe...you know what I think? I think he was soo annoying, he was kicked out of heaven, and told to go to hell. He asked, "Which one?" and they shoved him off the cloud. He was sent to the lowest of the hells, but they quickly got very annoyed. He was shunned from hell to hell. Finally the leaders of the Nine Hells held a meeting and decided they all hated him more than they hated each other. So they sent him back to Amn to annoy all of us innocent (ok, not-so-innocent) people. Ahhh....see? We are not the only ones! Even the damned cannot put up with him!
