I am planning to play a evil perty for the first time and i was hoping for some advice. my party is:Me (?)
    Korgan
    Edwin
    Viccy
    Jan
    HD

1)would a wild mage fit into this party? i have never playd one and am keen.

    2) can HD be effectively used in a 6 person party?

3)any other topics of interest for a first timer

I will take sarevok when i get to ToB

I eagerly wait a response. i want to start playing as soon as i can. thanks

[IMG] 1) A Wild Mage would be good as then you would have three magic users and also you have plenty of people who can tank already. Personally, I would get a Fighter/Mage to go with this lot, but that's just me.

    2) There's some guide to Blades somewhere that you can download (from here? Not sure) that's pretty good. It basically tells you how to make Blades effective tankers. So yeah, Haerry can be effective if you use him correctly.

    3) You could get a mod that gives you the Robe of Vecna. It's a powerful robe and gives you magic resistance, AC base of 5 and reduces spell casting time. You can download it from the Bonus Merchants thing from here:

    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_mods_hosted_bioware.php

It's the top one. I think Deidre sells it rather than the other guy, not sure though.

You could get Anomen and make him fail his test so he becomes Chaotic Neutral if you wanted. Which I doubt you do as basically no-one here likes him... :shake: :smash:

Who are you gonna drop for Sarevok? :hmm:

EDIT: Here's the guide to Blades. It's about halfway down the page.

1)It would either be a wild mage or a kensai dualed to a thief. haven't played either.

    2) not too keen on mods as they stuffed up my last ToB game

    3) either drop HD or Korgan for sarevok. whitch ever i like the least at the time.

    What say you?

Only one mod won't cause you any trouble. Unless you install stuff over it, then you'll get it "stuffed up".

Kensai/Thieves are good too. I'd probably take that rather than the Mage - Jan's a pretty rubbish thief, and as it would be a part Fighter, it would be another useful tank.

So far, good party though. :thumb:

Who would i take instead of jan though? Kensai/theif sounds good. any tips how to play one? At what level do i dual from and from what to what? what is the mod and where can i get it? i had deidre last time and all i had was sola and kelsey. i thought she came if you had ToB and the patch? thanks for humouring me! :)

    1) K->T is good. You've got Jan to do the actual thieving stuff, so you can go up to level 13 before dualling to get the most out of it. But until you dual you'll need the gnome for his skills.

    2) I wouldn't call the bonus merchants a mod (on about the same level as ToB would be a mod).

    3) Sounds good. The Jan/"Binky" dialogues are priceless. :shake:

You can get the Deidre mod from here, like I said:

    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_mods_hosted_bioware.php

I still think you should take Jan, but have the Kensai/Thief as your main thief because as Jan is multi-class, he advances more slowly in levels and will only be able to get to level twenty-something as a thief.

I think you should dual from a Kensai around level seven. I've never actually played a dual class before though, and I'm not sure what would be the best level for dualling at. Other people might be better at advising you on that point.

Hope this helps a bit! :)

    So it would be:

    Kensai 13 theif x
    Korgan
    Edwin
    Viccy
    HD
    Jan

what should my char's stats be. i'll probably use katana's and long swords. Celestial fury and im not too sure of the best long sword. should she be lawful or nuetral evil? this is my first dual too. what is the difference between dualing at 7 or 13?

I think Neutral Evil would suit the character better - you'll find out towards the end of the game why. I don't want to give any spoilers in case you don't want them! :) Also, Thieves can't be any Lawful alignment, so you'll have to be Neutral/Chaotic Evil if you're dualling to a thief.

If you dual class later, you'll have more bonuses from the first class but you won't be able to advance to the higher levels of the second class. I'd do what Fel suggested, dual at level 13.

For stats, you'd need strength and Dexterity. To be able to dual class, you need 17 in your primary class and 18 in the class you're dualling to (or something like that!). Then you'll want constitution.

For weapon profs, do whatever weapons and styles you'll be using. Katana, Long Sword, Dual etc.

    12

That's a really good roll! Kensai/Thieves don't especially need wisdom or intelligence, so what you have is great. As for your charisma...are you using the spoiler or not?

spoiler all the way. i knew about it already though so don't worry about that! :D
Now for proficiencies (sp?). if i don't do grand mastery now, can i come back later and do it? if so i'm thinking *** in katanas, ** in two weapon style and * in long swords for now. will i be able to use these weapons when i first dual to a theif?

    STATS (required/suggested)

    STR 15/18
    DEX 17/18
    CON 3/18
    INT 3/10+
    WIS 3/10+
    CHA 3/10-18

For your kensai, it would be an extra 1/2 attack per round, two more proficiency points, two more uses of Kai, +2 to hit and damage, and -2 to speed factor.

    EDIT:
You two type too damn fast. :p

AFAIK, when you dual class you aren't able to use the proficiencies you gained in your first class until you are one level higher in your second class than you are in your first class. e.g. if you were level 13 Kensai then dualled to a thief, you'd only be able to use your Kensai weapon profs when you reached level 14 as a thief. You will be able to use those weapons as a thief, though, but you may need to use any thief proficiencies you gain in the same proficiencies. Just don't go over ***** in any of the proficiencies - it's a waste! :D

I would suggest specializing in the weapons you'll use and grandmastering only if you have extra points, before you dual. I'm not sure if you'll be able to keep going into grandmastery after you dual, but you shouldn't be able to. You'll have eight proficiency points to use before dualling.

After you dual, you won't have access to those points until you get to a level beyond what you were in your previous class, in your current one. (i.e. level 7 kensai requires you to get to level 8 thief, level 13 kensai requires you to get to level 14 thief) Until that point the game will treat you as a regular 1st (or whatever) level thief, so don't be alarmed when you suddenly lose all those abilities you gained; you will get them back eventually.

Err, I reccomend you to get the True Grand Mastery fix (it is NOT a mod, a little file to be dropped, that's all.) Then get GM (5 points) in Katanas, True Grand Mastery is VERY powerful, look at thetruth's topic for details. With it your kensai/thief will do massive damage, and will haev amazing # of attacks/round.
