Hi, my name is David Milward.

I've always found RPGs that only allow one character (Elder Scrolls, Diablo) not all that interesting. For me, part of the appeal of the RPG is having characters of various strengths and weaknesses work together as a team.

So I've a question about the Toolset. Despite the fact that the Game itself allows only one PC, can the Toolset be used to create Modules for party based games (a la Icewind Dale).

Any reply would be greatly appreciated,

    Dave Milward.

[IMG] Yes and no. The toolset can design modules for more that one player to be in, i.e. multi-player mode. The limitation is that one person can only control one PC at a time. You can write code for a party of henchmen but you don't really control them. NWN was designed as a multi-player game and thus you will have you're whole party just control by different people like in pen & paper D&D.

Yes and no. Like IWD or BG where you control all the party members, using pause a lot and switching items around - no.
Yes, you can play a wiz and have familiar + summoned monster + henchperson, but with limited control.
The game was DESIGNED to be multiplayer, with different people online playing the other party members, like PnP DnD.

    OoC SNAP Voltric!

Actually, there is a script out there that allows you to edit henchman inventory and such. I found it on one of the boards on the main page, however it also enables other things that many people would view as cheese. Perhaps I can see if I can make you a script that would only do this. Once completed, I'll send it into SP if Tal wants it.

Here's an idea I've been wondering about. Think there is anyway to script it where the game recognizes an npc as being as summoned creature or a dominated creature? This would obviously kill any summoning spells or disallow any dominating spells while they were in your group. But it's something I've been wondering about to get a four person party. Perhaps the npc's would at least be more useful en masse. ;)

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to modify the scripts to have multiple NPCs in the party, unless the max number is hardcoded into the game. Regardless, there is no way that I have been able to find to have IWD-style control.

Crawl, I fail to see a point in what you are proposing. Why disable one of the most powerful parts of the game? In PnP, you can summon as many creatures as you have spells. I cannot think of any way to do what you ask other than outright changing the game code, as you would not be able to remove them from your party.
