First of all, please don't post spoilers here.

So, I've come across hints that the Golden Pantaloons from Friendly Arm Inn can be used if I bring it to bg2. I know that'd have to be done by having them in inventory while the game ends, but isn't your inventory wiped when you import a game to bg2? Also, is it possible for me to find out what to use them for on my own, or is it hidden so well I might as well go and read it in a walkthrough? (most of the time, exploring and finding stuff on your own is more fun :) )

The pantaloon will be nearby when the BG2 game starts. To make the pantaloon useful, you will need some other components and the help from a NPC.

Just hold onto em all until Throne of Bhall ;)
All your items will be wiped at the start of Shadows of Amn...except for the pantaloons.
You could miss it, but its probably more likely that you'll miss a component in Shadows of Amn.

**Not so big spoiler about the quantity of the components and some tips, so go ahead and read**

. There are two... components ( ).
. To get the SoA component you need to be greedy for a moment, it's from a sidequest you've probably already done before.
. And IIRC the one in ToB is hard to miss, you pretty much get it automatically.

Okay so one more slightly spoilerific comment:

Not only do you need to be greedy to get one of the components, you need to be involved in something decidedly evil. So if you're roleplaying a good party, you likely will never get this particular component.

Just to clarify what Trellheim said, there are 2 components in BGII (1 in SoA and one in ToB) - this is in addition to golden pantaloons you have from inside the Friendly Arm Inn (therefore there are 3 components total). BTW the other components aren't esoteric gems or anything, if you manage to pick 'em up you'll know what they're for.

[edit]changed the word outside to inside, thanks starwalker :)

Stu the Golden Pantaloons are from inside the Friendly Arm Inn. From an upstairs room.
