[IMG] When I picked up the Paladin NPC, he had two empty potion bottles. I immediately thought, well, this is a quest waiting to happen. I did all of his quests, though, but none from the Order of the Radiant Heart-they didn't ask anything of me. What are they for? Also, when I did the Lothander temple quests, they said too bad you walked a seperate path, but, I'm dualled to Cleric from Ranger, and I wanted a Temple! Isn't that how you get it?

I have found about 4 of those empty bottles at different places (at least 2 in the warehouse in the temple district, where you can get celestial fury) and I was never able to use one of 'em, or to fill them anyway.
So I think they're pretty useless...

[IMG] Good, I can pitch them. Also, isn't Celestial Fury the Katan/Waza-whatever? Only Yoshimo has that proficiency I thought, yet it seems many outfit others with it. What's up with that?

So what's the deal with them? Is there some kind of potion destroyer that leaves the bottles to remind you that you haven't drunk or dropped the potions or what? (you know like broken weapons)

Only useful for mage chars who do the Sphere quest with the apprentices. After you're done with them, one of them will make potions for you if you get him the bottles. By the time I learned that I was already done with the game, and I never lacked potions anyway...

Tal, I think you're wrong - your only thing to do is to agree when apprentice proposes potion making - no need to bring him empty bottles.
And when your apprentice finishes potions (every week I think), sometimes he gives you empty bottles instead of full ones!

Whatever I haven't a clue what to do with those. Yet.
In fact I could use them in flame wars here to stick them in someone's *hrmph*. This topic is serious, sorry.

Could be, I'm going on what people told me here. Who needs potions anyway. Everyone I know is stuck with 20 too many all the time.

After a bit of digging (hehe Extremist, your utter disbelief of everything I say is proving educational) ;) I found out that indeed, there is no known use for the potion bottles instead of looking neat stuck into your mage's belt. BUT if you find out, PLEASE tell me. I'm just dying to know. :D

[IMG] Yeah, I find I rarely use potions. After all the magical items boosting STR and speed, plus spells, I rarely down any potions before a battle. I probably should, or sel them. I wish there were potion cases in BG2 like in HOW. KNow what I'm talking about?

    Oh yeah. ;)
You know what's the best thing to do when you run out of space because of potions? Just start drinking them, and fuck it all. Trust me, if you don't go by this system, you'll be left with at least 20 by the end of the game. By the time you remember to use one, the battle is usually already over or you don't need one to win it at all.

Psst... You DO get a Bag of Holding though. ;)

I think the empty vials are in the Paladin NPC because he wants to teach us all to recycle!

Other than that, I couldn't figure anything else to do with them. Couldn't even through them at goblins :(

Maybe they are just from npc's that use potions. After all if you drink a potion from a bottle you will be left with a empty bottle right?

    Congratulations Caleb!

... I was wondering how long it would take for someone to realize that.

By the way, Orkrist, why did you name yourself after a sword?

[IMG] Uh.. I don't know much about those bottles but I had a couple... I think I'll stick to Tal or Extremist's explanation. Yours sounds more...everyday and out of place. Heh. ;)

[IMG] I named myself after a sword because I figured the sword was probably named after a person at some point. Even if it wasn't, Orkrist is a cool name, and Orkrist the Goblin Cleaver sounds cool. So does Glamdring the Foe Hammer. It conjures the mood and feeling of a troupe of adventurers, seeking out evil and destroying it, searching the icy dales and flaxen plains of the forgotten realms, achieving greatness and accomplishing quests. OK, it just sounds cool.
Oh yeah, another cool name would be Mjuellner, the name of Thor's hammer.

Uuuuhhh Steppenwolf? That's what I said in the 1st post...
You get the potions from the guys where you can get celestial fury from.
BTW, Celestial fury is a katana +3, for the one who asked (can't remember his name).
It's one hell of a sword with booming thunder, lightning strike and 5% chance for an additional 20 electrical damage...
    BTW BTW...
Yoshimo AND Valigar are proficient with Katanas, not only Yoshimo...
And of course your own character can be proficient with it...

caleb's explanation would make sense if you got the empty bottles after you drank a potion, but you don't, they just disappear.

    Isn't Orkrist a typo?

I checked The Hobbit, and the spelling is Orcrist, not Orkrist.

Right you are, it's Orcrist with a "C". I don't know what the hell you were thinking.

[IMG] What will I do? Now I'm really in crisis. Oh well, a typo then.
